When and how to use the Ovulation Calendar
The Ovulation Calendar (you can also think of it as a Fertility Calendar) is the best natural way to estimate when it is baby-making time!
Start by entering the first day of your menstrual period and your cycle length. Once you enter the required data, the Ovulation Calendar automatically shows your estimated ovulation day or the date marked red. It will also show you your fertile days or the days marked green.
Your fertile window [is the days] before and a day after your approximate ovulation date. So red and green mean it is time to get busy under the sheets (read: go ahead and have sex during those days).
What is ovulation
This Ovulation Calendar can help you estimate your ovulation day, which happens when a mature egg is released from one of the ovaries and moves to the fallopian tube where it can be fertilized by a sperm. It’s hard to pinpoint when this happens exactly, but the Ovulation Calendar helps you predict it.
A woman’s egg, once released by the ovary, is only viable to be fertilized for about 12 to 24 hours. Sperm, on the other hand, can stay alive in a woman’s cervix for up to five days. Studies have shown that having sex on the day or two days before a woman’s ovulation day increases her chances of getting pregnant by 50%.
The importance of knowing the date of your next period
The Ovulation Calendar also marks when your next period is expected to arrive and if it is delayed. If you did not get your period on the approximate date, then you may have a baby on the way. The Ovulation Calendar will show you when to take an at-home pregnancy test to check if you’re expecting already.
The Ovulation Calendar can effectively predict a woman’s ovulation and fertile days if she has a regular menstrual cycle. A typical cycle length is 28 days, but can also last anywhere between 21 to 35 days, depending on the woman’s age.
The Ovulation Calendar's prediction becomes less reliable for women who have irregular menstrual cycles (sometimes you get your period, sometimes you don’t). The same goes for those whose menstrual cycles may be shorter than 21 days or longer than 35.
