5 Everyday Things That Can Cause Skin BreakoutsThese could be the reason you still get pimples even if you do your skin regimen religiously.
One of the worst things that can happen to us is an unwelcome zit greeting you with a smug “hello” on a very important day. After doing everything right--cleansing, toning, and moisturizing--you’re left with a haunting feeling as you rack your brains trying to figure out what skincare sin you’ve committed or what exactly you did wrong in the beauty department. But, with acne, you just never know when she’s plotting an attack.
To prevent this from ever happening, below are some of the sneakiest pimple causes:
1. Air Travel
Jet setters, heads up! Whether or not you’re flying first class, the truth remains the same: air travel dehydrates your skin. Inside your plane cabin, the air is always dry. When moisture isn’t present, air tends to draw moisture from wherever it can, and that includes your skin! This can lead to post-flight acne, so for preventive measures, protect your skin with a hydrating moisturizer before boarding.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW

2. Your Pillowcase
Changing your sheets at least once a week can save you a lot of acne trouble. Can you imagine all the bacteria, dirt, oil, and sweat that build up on your pillow whenever you decide to skip laundry day? Gross. You’re literally sleeping with the enemy here! Rolling on a dirty, germ-infested pillowcase can swiftly turn your sweet dreams into a skin nightmare when you wake up the next day.
3. Your Cellphone
We’re all pretty much inseparable from our phones, and that’s understandable in this day and age. You probably don’t even realize the amount of dirt that builds up on your cellphone brought about by constant typing or whenever you set it down on random desks. You transfer all the acne-causing bacteria onto your face every time you take a call and onto your hands every time you do so much as touch it. That said, it certainly won’t hurt to keep it gunk-free with an antibacterial wipe at least once daily.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW

4. Makeup Brushes
Ironic, isn’t it? The very tools that are supposed to be making you feel more beautiful might actually be the reason for your breakouts—if you don’t religiously clean them, that is. Your makeup brushes can entrap bacteria, dirt, and oil as you use them on a daily basis. So needless to say, a regular cleaning schedule is a must if you’re trying to steer yourself away from a zitty situation.
5. Your Hair Products
Pesky pimples along your hairline, back, and neck were likely caused by hair products containing sulfates and other ingredients that seep into your pores and clog them. Always make sure to thoroughly rinse off excess shampoo and conditioner when you shower, otherwise leftover product can wreak havoc on your skin without you even having the slightest clue what caused it.
