Review: I Got an Armpit Facial to Get Rid of Blackheads on My UnderarmsIt's a procedure you probably didn't know you needed.
Facials usually involve blackhead extractions, steaming, and exfoliation to thoroughly cleanse your face of dirt and grime. So when I heard of a treatment that could do just that--not to your face, but to your underarms--I got really curious. What does it do exactly? What are the effects? And why would one ever want to be pricked on one of the most sensitive parts of the body? Keep reading to find out.
What It Is:
Belo Medical Group calls it their Underarm Cleaning service, and it's meant to thoroughly cleanse and declog your armpits from dirt. The process involves steaming (to open up your pores) before the extraction of blackheads, whiteheads, and pimples.
I’m not really particular about my armpits, although I would prefer them to be more even-toned than they are now. I suffered from dark spots and discoloration after trying an anti-perspirant that didn’t work for me. Apart from that, some areas have developed chicken skin.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
I did some research, however, and found out that some people develop really bad and chronic blackheads on their armpits. They look like black dots or ingrown hair, but are actually clogged dirt and are considered a form of acne.

How the Process Went:
Prior to the procedure, Belo sets you up with one of their dermatologists to check your underarms. The doctor will recommend if you need the facial or if there are other underarm treatments you should do to address your skin concerns. In my case, the derma actually told me that this might not be the procedure for me since she could barely see any blackheads or whiteheads. But for the purpose of this review, I went through with it. They even mentioned that actress Alice Dixson is a huge fan of the treatment, so I got more curious about it.
After the consultation, I was brought to the treatment room. My underarms were first steamed for about 10 minutes to open my pores, and then the technician went in to prick my blackheads and whiteheads. Surprisingly, it was pretty painless! I thought I’d fidget and wince as the extractions took place, but her hands were so light and the whole procedure was a breeze! She also showed me how much gunk she got, and I couldn’t believe there was still quite a lot despite what the derma told me during my consultation.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
It’s definitely a treatment I'd recommend if you're dealing with bad blackhead breakouts on your underarms. Even though I wasn't dealing with the said problem, my underarms did feel smoother and less rough a few days after the procedure. Overall, I’d recommend it since you never know how much dirt is stuck in your pits, and it's an absolute must if you want to get rid of those blackheads for good!
