Moms Swear by These Sunscreens for Face and Body, Starting at Php349.75
  • Sunscreen should be a non-negotiable in your skincare routine, especially during the summer months when the sun is stronger. Sunlight is the cause of at least 80 percent of the signs of visible aging like skin thinning, wrinkles, and facial lines. Not only does sunscreen help minimize the damage, but it also prevents you from more serious diseases like skin cancer.

We asked moms from our Facebook group, Smart Parenting (SP) Village, for their favorite sunscreens, and they shared the brands that worked for them. If you’re planning your summer vacation with the family, make sure one of these is in your bag!

What should you look for in a sunscreen?

You might want a multi-tasking sunscreen that will not only give you sun protection but will also improve your skin condition. Some sunscreens will help with skincare problems like hydration, age spots, and fine lines and wrinkles, especially those that are specifically for the face. When shopping for a sunscreen, make sure it has the following:

    Broad spectrum on the label

Sunscreens that are marketed as broad spectrum will protect your skin from both ultraviolet A and B (UVA and UVB) rays. UVB causes sunburn, while UVA penetrates deeply into the skin and can cause wrinkles, according to WebMD. Both increase your risk for skin cancer.

    SPF 30 or higher

SPF stands for sun protection factor, and experts generally recommend using sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30, which blocks out 97% of UVB radiation. Of course, there are sunscreens with higher SPF, but a high number can also give a false sense of security. SPF can resist water and sweat, but only for a certain amount of time, according to Good Housekeeping. What’s most important is that you reapply your sunscreen at least every two hours.
