Makeup is one of the fastest way to give a tired mom a confidence boost. As much as we always want to wake up like we don't need any makeup, it almost doesn't always happen when you have a baby who still doesn't sleep through the night, or a toddler who takes hours before getting knocked out in bed. So here's your 411 on using and choosing the right product to "fake it till you make it!"
The first rule of skin coverage is to start with a clean moisturized face, according to Ira Nopuente of Female Network. The second is getting the right shade for your skin, says Retty Contreras of Cosmo.ph. The third is to apply it properly.
Always do the five points technique: Dab ithe product on to your forehead, nose, cheeks, and chin; then blend out with soft strokes using a brush, a sponge, or your fingers. Practice blending--and don't forget your to blend on your neck, too. Then, seal your skin coverage with loose powder.
Now, what product to choose? Here are the basic kinds of skin coverage products available. Find out what you need based on your skin's needs.
1. Foundation
If there's such a thing as power dressing, then power makeup must also be a thing. Foundation now comes in more shades that you can find one that is ideal for your skin (click here on how to find the right shade). It comes in liquid, stick, cream compact, soft cream, and powder form. You do, however, need ace blending skills (and maybe a brush or a sponge to do so) to avoid looking like cake. Water-based or hydrating foundation work best in our hot and humid climate.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOWTry: Maybelline Dream Velvet Soft Matte Hydrating Foundation, P499.

2. BB cream
BB stands for "beauty blam" or "blemish balm." It's lighter than foundation but thicker than a CC cream (see below what this one is). It helps even out the skin tone and hide blemishes--and yes, you still have to blend it onto your skin. What's good about the BB cream is it comes with extra goodness that your skin needs: sun protection, moisturizer, and anti-aging ingredients. However, BB creams usually only offer two to four shades.CONTINUE READING BELOWRecommended VideosTry: Revlon PhotoReady BB Cream SPF 30, P725.

3. CC cream
CC stands for "color-correcting" or "complexion corrector" and aims to correct redness, blotchiness, and dark spots. CC creams has the lightest formulation among foundations and BB creams. It evens out the complexion without unnaturally tinting it. It also provides more sun protection and hydrating benefits. Some CC creams have added lycopene to calm redness and vitamin C to promote radiance--or what you could call a beauty glow.Try: Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream SPF30, P1,950, Rustan’s Makati
