How Isabelle Daza Is Defying Maternity Style RulesShe proves it's okay to be different and stand outby Lei Dimarucut-Sison .
Pregnancy brings with it a lot of changes, not only on the physical aspect but also with one's day-to-day habits. There are so many superstitious beliefs surrounding pregnancy that sometimes it's hard to keep up! Among them: one shouldn't exercise while pregnant, one should avoid drinking cold water, one should not stay with another pregnant woman in the same house, etc. — all of which, understandably, are meant as a precaution for the good of the mom-to-be and her baby.
Actress and model Isabelle Daza, who announced in September that she is pregnant with her first child, has had her share of "learnings" in this aspect. In November, Belle (her nickname) was embroiled in controversy when she was called out for jumping up and down while 5 months pregnant. The said incident happened during the wedding reception of her celebrity friends Erwan Heussaff and Anne Curtis. (A Smartparenting.com.ph article later clarified that doing so is generally safe, according to an expert.)ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
But no, Isabelle isn't the type who can be boxed in with tradition or "this-is-how-it's-always-been-done." In the most subtle way — like how she dresses her bump —, she lets fellow pregnant women know they can stand out and still be a mom-spiration. Take a look:
You can exercise.
With doctor's advice and a lot of caution (you have to listen to your body), exercise is even beneficial to both mom and baby.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
You can enjoy the sun, sand and sea (or the pool).
There's a reason underwater-themed maternity shoots became a trend for a while. Some doctors even recommend swimming as a good form of low-impact activity.
You can be sexy (with a mini).ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
Someone once said a pregnant woman is at her sexiest state, so flaunt it!
You can wear black.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
There is no scientific basis that wearing black clothing while pregnant will harm you or your child.
Heck, you can even wear just your birthday suit!ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
Belle wasn't even showing yet when she donned a "human anatomy" costume for Halloween, but getting the painting done (as long as the paint used isn't toxic, of course) looked like a lot of fun!
