Parents, mark your calendars! BBC Studios and Walt Disney Studios, together with Ludo Studio, have confirmed that the Bluey movie will officially open in cinemas on August 6, 2027.

Since it first aired in 2018, Bluey has become a global hit. The Emmy and BAFTA Award-winning series has captured the hearts of kids and parents with its mix of humor, warmth, and everyday family moments. Now, the show is making the leap to theaters with a full-length feature film.
The movie is written and directed by Bluey creator Joe Brumm. Amber Naismith (Happy Feet, The LEGO Movie) is producing, with Richard Jeffery (Bluey, Series 1–3) serving as co-director.
The project is financed and licensed by BBC Studios, with Walt Disney Studios handling distribution. It also has support from the Australian Government through the Producer Offset and Screen Australia, along with Screen Queensland’s Post, Digital and Visual Effects Incentive.

Fans will be glad to hear that Melanie Zanetti and David McCormack are returning as the voices of Mum (Chilli) and Dad (Bandit). This means the familiar warmth and humor of the Heeler family will carry into the movie. While the story is still under wraps, the film promises to expand on the show’s themes of family, play, and imagination in a cinematic experience that feels bigger than ever.
The feature film was first announced in December 2024, sparking excitement worldwide. BBC Studios and Disney confirmed that a theatrical release was in the works and teased its 2027 debut. Now, with the date officially set, the countdown has begun.
