Teens Can Book Their Own Ride With Parents Still in the Loop

Grab takes its services to the next level with Grab for Family. Because many families with children of different ages use Grab, this new feature lets teenagers book their own rides while still letting parents monitor their trips.

Instead of choosing between taking time out of your busy schedule to book your kids' rides yourself or letting them book on their own and worrying about them the whole time, Grab for Family works by letting them book their own rides while you receive all the real-time trip updates.

Once you link your teens to the Family Account, you can receive updates whenever they book a ride. You can follow their rides on a live map through the app, communicate with both your kid and the driver, and access additional safety features throughout the trip, such as automated trip notifications.

Trip notifications include when a driver is assigned, along with details about the driver and the vehicle. They also tell you when your teen has been picked up, when they reach their destination, and when the trip is marked as completed.

Aside from these, you can also be alerted when the original route is deviated from or when there are unexpected stops during the journey.

With these new features, there’s no need to worry all the time and keep calling your kid while they’re on the ride.

In addition to monitoring the entire ride, the Ride PIN feature provides extra verification before a trip begins. This requires both your kid and the driver to match a unique in-app code before the ride starts, so you can be sure your kid got into the correct assigned vehicle.

You can also use 3-Way Chat to communicate with both your kid and the driver. This is especially useful if you need to give specific instructions regarding pickup points, such as landmarks and other details.

Lastly, Grab has an AudioProtect feature that enables audio recording on both the driver’s and your kid’s devices during the ride. However, these recordings are encrypted and can be accessed only when you file a formal report.
