The Miss Universe pageant has never been just about physical beauty. If you do a quick background check on each candidate, you'll find out they have university degrees under their belts or well-established careers. In fact, our very own Maxine Medina was an interior design student (she belongs to the Class 2014 of Philippine School of Interior Design. Read more about it here).
There's a lot of life lessons to be gleaned from these women, and no one embodies it more than the crowned Miss Universe winner, Iris Mittenaere, of France. Her answer about the times she has failed in her life showed her perseverance and resolve.
Failure was simply a chance, a step, to do better, perfect a step, and finally earn and reach that success. It's a life skill we can all hope our daughters and sons will learn.
Here are more empowering words we'd gladly share with our daughters.
