  • Here are some guidelines that I personally follow when giving gifts:

It has to be unique. I don’t go for the usual toys and clothes. Especially if the child is dear to me, he deserves a gift that's just as special as he is.Something that the child likes and will benefit from. As a Ninang or Tita, you would also want to be a part of the child's growth and development. Educational materials or toys that will develop a child’s skills will help the parents too. After all, it takes a village to raise a child.Something that the parents will really appreciate. Sure, they will always be thankful for all the gifts they receive but having them talk about your gift long after you gave it only means that you made them happy too.Budget friendly. I'm a very practical Mom, Tita and Ninang. It won't be fair if I teach my own kids to save and then spend on lavish gifts for other kids. I also don’t like being tagged as kuripot (a cheapskate) so I use creativity. Expensive looking but affordable, that's what I go for.
If you’re looking for a useful and affordable gift for toddlers, my suggestion is to get them a subscription to Playhouse Disney magazine. Every toddler loves Mickey Mouse. It’s not every day that someone comes up with this idea. That’s what makes it unique.

    Educational Benefits

What about the benefits for the child? It introduces the toddler to educational activities like reading, writing, coloring and the arts. It contributes to the child's development in terms of psychomotor growth, creative thought, social and emotional behavior, as well as self perception. Most of all, it keeps him away from the TV.

Something the Whole Family Will Appreciate

Your gift will last long after the occasion is over. The magazine will arrive at the celebrant's doorstep every month to the delight of the whole family. You can choose from three months, six months, one year or two year subscriptions from P356.25 to P2,400. That's monthly fun bonding with Mommy and Daddy together with Mickey Mouse and friends, Handy Manny, the Little Einsteins, Tigger and Pooh, Higglytown Heroes and Jojo Circus. There's more fun in store in every copy of Playhouse Disney that surely makes it a perfect gift.

Expensive Looking but Affordable (and Useful)

If you do decided to get a Playhouse Disney magazine subscription as a gift, enclose a card or letter with the magazine saying that you have just given the toddler celebrant a subscription to several merry months with his favorite Playhouse Disney characters. Wrap the magazine together with a small stuffed toy (maybe one of the Playhouse Disney characters!) for creativity and impact. For me, that certainly looks like an expensive but actually affordable (and useful!) gift for a toddler.
