“When I had my first baby in 2003, I bought and tried a few maternity bras from the US and Hongkong,” shares Terrence Lim Ong, who brought Bravado maternity bras to the Philippine market. “I tried different brands and I had the same issues with them that some breastfeeding moms experience too—difficulty in closing and opening the bra panel with one hand (as the other hand is holding the baby), underwires (which I've read is not really good for breastfeeding), built in bra pads which look nice on the outside but don't flatten when you are breastfeeding, and bras that either feel too small or too big because the breasts’ size keeps changing when breastfeeding.”

When Terrence saw Bravado Maternity Bras on an ad in a pregnancy magazine, she decided to give it a try. “I tried the Original Nursing Bra and soon after, I purchased it in all the colors—black, butterscotch and white. It was perfect for me because of its flexibility. It was very comfortable so I could sleep with it at night, I could wear it out, and most importantly, it was easy to attach and detach with one hand while holding the baby.”

Bravado Bras cost a little more than the local bras available but they’re a great investment. They are made in Canada and the materials used are top of the line. “They are such good quality that you can still use them for your second and third child,” attests Terrence. “It's great to get all the colors. I've had moms buy the white, then realize that they need the black and butterscotch for when they go out and wear something black or a little sheer.

Both styles have no itchy seams, which is the greatest complaint of moms. “The bikini underwear has a front panel that is very smooth so, there are no lines,” says Terrence. “This is perfect for moms who like low rise pants. The briefs fit right over the tummy. It also has the smooth front panel so there are no lines that show over clothes. The nice thing about the briefs are, you can also fold the underwear down and it acts like a support for the tummy. They are great buys and also come in white, black, and butterscotch.”
