  • Filipinos usually have their babies baptized between three to six months of age. Babies at this age are now more alert and playful. They love to laugh, smile, and babble at almost everything and anyone.
    Get something developmentally appropriate

Three to six months is also the stage where a baby discovers his fingers and toes and spends a lot of time playing with them. Most infants learn to grasp their toys and pass them from one hand to another. He may also rotate his wrist to inspect it from all sides, usually before popping it into his mouth. Infants also begin to teethe during this stage. Having a bib will become a necessity and this also means that almost everything that baby touches will go straight into his mouth.
Always consider safety when buying toys

The first and foremost consideration should be that the toy is safe for chewing. Check your labels properly! Select soft toys that do not contain small pieces that may potentially be choking hazards. Also consider what the toy is made of and if it will be easy to clean. Also check for any cord attachments longer than 12 inches, these could too easily be a cause for strangulation.
Here are some baptismal gift ideas:
    1. Cloth or board books
Babies love to hear the sound of your voice. Reading to a child at any age brings tons of advantages and is also an excellent bonding experience. Choose colorful cloth or board books with lots of pictures that interest your little one. Because babies tend to put most anything they can grab into their mouths, cloth books work well as they can also be washed and kept clean.
    2. Activity center
This is perfect for a baby who doesn’t sit up yet. This is basically a soft, cushioned quilt or play mat that gives the baby plenty of room to practice rolling over. The attachments that come with the mat also provide stimulation to the baby such as colorful mirrors, rattles, and stuffed toys.
    3. Toys that make sounds and/ or music
Infants love to produce their own noise with colorful lightweight rattles and soft squeaky animals. These toys are also perfect companions in the tub during bath time.
    4. Soft stuffed animals
Babies at this age begin forming an attachment to a plush animal. Just make sure that the plushie is soft and cuddly; no wire ears or tails that could harm the little one. Dolls with stitched-on features, such as plastic eyes, are potential choking hazards. Watch out for attachments such as bells, buttons, and ribbons that can be yanked off by a persistent tiny hand and stuffed into baby’s mouth.
    5. Colorful teething toys
Most infants play with their teethers and teething toys more than any other toy. There are several teething toys available in the market today. Some teething rings may be placed in the refrigerator for cool relief to aching gums. Many teethers click or spin to spark a baby’s curiosity.
