10 Hottest Trends in Kiddie Parties for 2013

Filipinos are just naturally creative people. It’s no surprise then, that every year there are new and interesting trends that appear on the children’s party scene! Here’s what’s hot this 2013:

 

1. Instaprnt

Since most of your guests are instagramming your super cute party, give them a chance to take those pics home! Don’t be surprised if your hashtag ends up with hundreds of photos after the celebration!

2. Life-sized letters onstage

Though life-sized letters have been around for a long time, it’s only recently that they became the “star” of the show by putting them onstage! Some people prefer to have it flat, while others like it to be 3-dimensional for that added oomph! Lately there has been a preference to light up these letters as well!

3. Minimalism / 3-color styling

In the past year, it became a trend to keep to a minimalist styling, using only a maximum of 3 colors instead of the usual explosion of balloons and colors for children’s parties. The result is a classy, more put-together look.

4. Polkadots, Chevron, and other patterns

Fashionistas everywhere have been decorating their homes and clothes with polkadots and chevron, and these popular patterns are now also being used in children’s parties! Polkadot straws, chevron paper bags, striped linens – they’re everywhere!

5. Mason jars, pails, twine, wooden spoons, straws

Thanks to online stores like Party Starters, it’s so easy to DIY intimate parties. Mason jars are now favored iced tea cups, while wooden spoons and printed straws add cute details to your centerpieces and table settings!

6. Washi tape

The latest trend to hit the Philippines, washi tape has of course made its way to DIY parties. You can washi tape almost everything - loot bags, balloons, cupcake stands … your imagination is the limit!

7. Non-character themes

For the past 2 years, there has been a movement towards non-cartoon or character themes. This makes it easier for parents to just buy items related to the theme, instead of sticking to cartoon characters. As a result, parents can come up with more personalized and unique celebrations.

8. Folding wooden chairs / Ghost Chairs

If you’ve got some money to spare and your theme follows it, folding chairs and ghost chairs definitely deliver an extra coolness factor to your party! 10. Life-sized and 3D props

Balloons are the quickest way to fill up the venue with color, but recently parents have been leaning towards 3-dimensional props for events. These larger-than-life accents provide maximum impact and are great for photo op!
