The Mompreneurs: Angelita Kristine Tomalon-Cortes with her partner Enial Laforteza-Barcelona
Their Business: PARTY-CLES (The name came from the word PARTY and PARTICLES. Particles are bits of atoms—synonymous to the little kids we cater to. To sum it up, PARTY-CLES means Party for Little Ones!)
The Idea: It started when my eldest son had his first birthday. I went to a well-known party shop in the Metro and availed of their services. I wasn’t that satisfied with their designs, so my husband and I ended up doing the invitations, tarpaulin, and almost all the other items needed for the party. This experience inspired me to try the party planning business. I asked my best friend Enial to be my partner.
Why It’s Unique: Every element on our designs is well thought of—from the color scheme and creative illustrations to the birthday messages. My partner and I are also very hands on with our business. We assure clients that we are in the event itself from the ingress until the egress, so that if a problem arises, we are there to sort things out for them.
On Putting a Personal Touch: We personally do everything that is needed for the event that is why we are able to give our clients reasonable prices. Our personalized chocolate bar is the all time favorite of our clients. They can put their baby’s photo and name on the wrapper and even add simple notes/messages for their guests.
Advice for Aspiring Mompreneurs: Before starting your business, make sure your family fully understands what you are getting into because much of the support you need will come from them. Second, you must know exactly what the business is about. My partner and I enrolled in different classes before deciding to plunge into this business. Lastly, you must jot down your priorities. For me, my family is at the top of my list. I am thankful that I have a best friend/partner who stands on my behalf when I need to attend special occasions with my family.
