Monster decors are among the cheapest and most practical you can make! You probably have most of the materials already in your home! The easiest way to spruce up any monster party (or any party, for that matter) is to have a themed dessert buffet as the focal point.
 
Monster Balloons

If you have some spare deflated balloons, blow them up and stick cutouts of eyes and art paper to make monster balloons!

Pumpkin Lanterns

Got some old pumpkin bags that your children use every year for Halloween? Bring them out and use them as décor! Hang them from the ceiling, use them as table centerpieces (and fill them with candies that guests can share) or light light them up using candles or battery-operated tealights.

Crepe Name & Numbers

Have a lot of extra cardboard and crepe lying around the house? Cut out your child’s name and age and wrap in crepe for instant décor that you can hang around the house! If you find any furry cloth (like Cheveron cloth), you can also use that to wrap the cardboard.

Boxed-Up Monsters!

If you’ve got shoe boxes lying around, this is the perfect time to use them! With a little glue, art paper, pipe cleaners and googly eyes, you’ve got little monster boxes to decorate the house with!

Table Setting

For high impact table setting, choose a tablecloth with a vibrant print/pattern.

Wrap your table napkins with a strip of construction paper, and place an “eyeball” right at the center. Go a step further by putting “eyeball” cookies on bowls, or putting several Green Jello cups in the middle of the tables and decorating them with candy eyeballs.

Design your own Mini Monster

Nothing beats a little arts and crafts party for toddlers! You can buy mid-size blocks of foam and cut them into shapes of arms and bodies. Buy small eyes and stickers, assemble on plates, and let the kids make their own little monsters with some glue!

For older kids, the kids can make their own “monster hats” instead, like below.

Pop a Monster!

Remember the Monster Balloons from earlier? Make a few more and attach them to a board, to make a cute Pop-A-Monster booth! It’s the same concept as Pop-A-Balloon, only a lot cooler. Make several monster balloons before the party and keep in a large bag nearby so you don’t have to keep inflating them during the party.

Pinata fun!

Order ahead of time from any party supplier a One-Eyed Monster piñata similar to the one above. You can choose to have it as a candy pull or a piñata that can be whacked open! (Be sure that the kids are old enough to do this, and that the piñata is hung a safe distance away from guests).

Monster giveaways and goodie bags

Eco Bag One-Eyed Monster

Eco-bags as giveaways are popular loot bag choices nowadays, because they’re so useful and cute! You can buy small and medium-sized eco bags from any department or grocery store (make sure they don’t have the store’s logo) and paste doodles of monsters on them. Then fill away with candies and other goodies! Suggestions for toy goodies include large bubble wands, springy rubber monsters, fake ooze/slime in cups.

Little Monster Dolls

If you’re very crafty and have time to spare, you can sew / glue gun these little monsters for take home! You don’t have to be a master sewer to do this, all you need is colorful cloth/foam, large eyeballs (available at National bookstore), and a glue gun (or needle and thread).

If you know the children attending the party, you can event start putting names on these little monster dolls and use them as table setting labels.
