Ultrasound Nail Art is The Next Pregnancy Keepsake TrendNail artists hand-paint this new pregnancy keepsake!by Rachel Perez .
Nurturing a new life inside you is one of life’s best miracles. While pregnancy itself isn’t all rainbows – it’s not always comfortable being pregnant and having a growing tummy – it is a treasured moment and many are continually finding ways to preserve and remember it by.
The common options to document a pregnancy are shooting maternity photos with your chosen theme and casting the shape of your baby bump. After birth, you can also have your placenta imprinted on paper or canvass or turn your baby’s umbilical cord into a keepsake.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
Now, moms are having their ultrasound scans turned into nail art, thanks to Sarah Clarke, beautician, and owner of SARenity Hair and Beauty in the U.K. The results are pretty amazing, and it has potential to be the next viral nail trend or pregnancy keepsake.
“I created that nail with firstly applying the acrylic nail and painted the picture by copying her scan picture using paint and a fine brush,” she explained, Clarke explained to Pretty52 in 2018. It costs around Php2,600 since it’s hand-painted.
It’s not just a hit for pregnant women, who sometimes choose to get an ultrasound nail art for gender reveal parties or baby showers or moms. It has also struck a chord for women who have lost their babies during pregnancy and want to honor them.
Ultrasound nail art has also reached the U.S. Nail artist from Florida, Hui Hensley, who goes by the name, Lily, thinks the trend will be very popular. “because it is such a precious time in the lives of moms and dads,” she told Today Parents.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW

According to genetic counselor Lori Wolfe,’ it’s safe for pregnant women to have acrylic nails put on. “The main risk with the use of acrylic nail and other salon products is from exposure to solvent fumes,”” she wrote for BabyCenter.
Pregnant women have a heightened sense of smell, which may cause them to feel nauseous, so just make sure the salon you go to is well-ventilated. Observe also any signs of allergy or fungal infection around your nails even if it’s not your first time getting acrylic nails. If you notice something off, it’s best to have it removed as soon as possible.
“Take precautions when having your acrylic nails removed, too. A chemical called acetone is often used to remove acrylic nails and can be left in contact with your nail for up to 20 minutes,” Wolfe said. It’s unlikely to do you or your unborn baby any harm, but again, do it in a well-ventilated area and wash your hands after.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
Acrylic nails usually stay on longer than regular nail polish. It’s a short-term pregnancy keepsake, but you cannot deny it’s pretty amazing.
