5 Easy Halloween Looks you can Do Yourself

Halloween isn’t just for kids. It’s definitely more fun if the whole household dresses up for the occasion. Whether you need a last minute costume idea or you want to amp up your DIY costume, here are five suggested makeup looks to recreate using products you already have in your makeup kit.

 

1. Queen of Hearts



Go all out with this dramatic Queen of Hearts look this Halloween. You can even color your hair fire red with a spray-on can available in major department stores.

Directions:

• For your foundation, use a shade lighter than your normal skin tone. Apply foundation on your eyebrows and lips as well. Set with powder.
• With an eye shadow base or concealer, draw a cup-like shape from your lids (see face chart) all the way up to about half an inch beyond your brows. Press turquoise eye shadow on top of the base.
• Draw in a thin pair of eyebrows using black eyeliner. Follow the curve of the eye shadow that you have just created.
• With the same black eyeliner, create a thick line from the inner corner of your eye going towards the outer corner.
• On your lower lash line, create a slightly thinner line (than the one on your upper lash line) from the outer corner going inwards.
• Curl your lashes, and apply a thick coat of mascara on your upper and lower lashes. You may add false eyelashes as well.
• With a red lip liner, draw a heart shape in the middle of your lips. Fill in the outline.
• Apply red lipstick on top of the lip pencil with a lip brush.
• Don’t forget the beauty mark near the outer corner of one eye. Use black waterproof liquid eyeliner.

2. Fuzzy Bunny

A bunny headband just won’t cut it if you’re a serious Halloween aficionado. Look the part with this makeup look.

Directions:

• Apply foundation on your whole face including your lips and set your lips, the bridge of your nose, brow bone and the area between your nose and lips with white matte eye shadow in pressing motion. Use your normal powder to set the remaining parts of your face.
• Apply an orange matte blush all over your face, except on the areas set with the white powder. Concentrate on the middle part of your face - from the sides of your nose and under eye area, towards your cheeks.
• Fill in your brows with black pencil eyeliner.
• Line the sides of the bridge of your nose with the same eyeliner and connect the line to your eyebrows. Color the underside of your nose black, around your nostrils. Leave a small V like shape above the blackened nostrils and create another black V above it. Then apply pink lip liner on the empty space.
• Draw a black line from the bottom of the nose towards the bottom of the upper lip. From the tip of the upper lip, draw slanting lines on both sides creating a triangle with a curved bottom. Fill in the triangle with pink lip liner.
• From the bottom sides of the triangle, create a curving line towards the outer edges of your nose. Create a small curving line from the corners of your mouth going upwards (see face chart).
• Right under the curved bottom of the triangle, create a set of bunny teeth.
• Apply small dots using waterproof liquid eyeliner above your lips within the bunny mouth crease, three on each side.
• Curl lashes and apply two coats of mascara.

3. Rock ‘N’ Roll Chic



Party like a rockstar with this really cool and super easy Halloween look.

Directions:

• Apply foundation as you would normally do. But a white base would be best to recreate this look. You may use costume makeup found in stores where Halloween costumes are being sold.
• Using black liquid eyeliner, draw in a star on your right eye area. Use your eye as a guide - it should be in the middle of the star.
• Rim your left eye with a black khol or pencil eyeliner and smudge using a smudge brush or a cotton bud. Curl lashes of both eyes and add mascara.
• Fill in your left brow with black pencil liner.
• Apply matte red lipstick.

4. Corpse Bride



For the true Halloween fanatic, this look definitely has some scare factor. Expect the little kids to stay away from your house.

Directions:

• Apply foundation in about three to four shades lighter. The goal is to look really pale and with no life. Set with powder.
• Apply a wash of blue eye shadow around the eye area. Blend the eye shadow on the sides of your nose from the top part to halfway down.
• Line the upper and lower lash lines thickly with black khol or pencil eyeliner and smudge. Curl lashes and apply a heavy coat of mascara. You may add false eyelashes if you wish.
• Apply red lipstick. Use your black pencil eyeliner to outline your lips. Grab your lip brush and blend the black line slightly towards the middle of your lips.
• Create scar stiches on each corner of your mouth and on the side of your forehead with the black pencil eyeliner. Remember to wipe off the tip of the pencil before using it for the stiches as it may have traces of red lipstick. Also, sharpen your pencil once in a while so you won’t have a hard time creating crisp lines.
• To complete the look, sport a heavily disheveled hairstyle.

5. Cat Woman



If looking ghoulish isn’t your thing, try the cat woman look. Look totally glam while having some Halloween fun.

Directions:

• Apply your normal everyday makeup – foundation, powder, blush, brows and lipstick.
• Create a winged eye makeup with a liquid liner.
• Curl your lashes, swipe some mascara then apply false eyelashes.
• Apply mascara on your lower lashes as well.
• Using your liquid eyeliner, create cat whiskers with three straight lines on each cheek.
• Create an inverted triangular shape with rounded corners on the tip of your nose using the same liquid eyeliner.
