Why go there: Laser tag is a really enjoyable and exhilarating experience that almost anyone can try; after all, the family that shoots each other with lasers, stays together.
Family-friendly factor: Laser tag games are safer than airsoft or paintball because you only use laser beams to target your opponent. Moreover, all players are required to wear a safety gear-slash-sensor. Just fire your laser gun at your opponents (Mom, Dad or Annoying Little Brother) and zap -- they’re toast! Plus, unlike other sports or games, size and height rarely matter in laser tag –- just a steady hand.
May cost you: P300 – P350 per player. Special package rates exist for huge (40+) groups.
Fun factoid: Lest you think this is some newfangled game, laser tag was invented in 1984, making it around 28 years old. It was originally developed for training by the U.S. military as a safer alternative to live fire.

June 8: The Mind Museum
Embark on a journey of discovery and wonder. Explore the boundaries of reality at the Mind Museum and learn more about the universe we live in.
Why go there: The Mind Museum is perhaps one of the most modern science museums in the country today. They have interactive exhibits that are all about physics, astronomy, biology and technological advancements.
Family-friendly factor: Most of the exhibits are designed to explain science in easily-grasped terms, and many of them are interactive, allowing you and your children to explore them as you would a theme park. Guides are available and interesting lectures about the exhibits are also given at certain times of the day.
May cost you: P150 – P750 for anywhere from a 3 hour visit to an all day pass. Additional fees exist for special exhibits.
Fun factoid: Many of the collaborating artists and designers of the Mind Museum are Filipino and have given the place a distinctly Philippine feel.

June 15: Manila Ocean Park
The seas surrounding the Philippine Archipelago are teeming with captivating and intriguing wildlife and Manila Ocean Park serves as a fitting showcase for them. For animal lovers, the environmentally conscientious and kids from ages 3 to 300, the Manila Ocean Park has something for everyone.
Why go there: Manila Ocean Park is world-class -- the variety and beauty of the aquatic wildlife here even rivals the Sydney Aquarium in Australia. The must-see sights include the glass tunnels, the shark tank and the jellyfish room, which has jellyfish floating lazily in a kaleidoscope of lights to strains of Pachelbel’s Canon in D Major.
Family-friendly factor: Aside from the appeal of the various animals children will get to see, the guides are quite helpful and there are a number of activities available. Kids can ride on a glass-bottom boat or take in one of the many seasonal activities (seal and dolphin shows, etc.) planned by the park.
May cost you: from P500-P900 per head, depending on how many attractions you choose to see.
Fun factoid: Check out the feeding schedules so your family can spot the staff in wetsuits as they feed the frolicking fish. It’s fun and fascinating at the same time to watch the fish behave like pets to the staff.

Family-friendly factor: Aside from being a very affable tour guide, Carlos Celdran knows his way around the city like no other. It’s certainly more interesting than learning history in the classroom.

Fun factoid: Unlike the other websites advertising tours, hotels and activities, Celdran’s site is a personal blog which is quite entertaining and informative. Check out his tips on restaurants to visit and sights to see.
