May 4: Hinulugang Taktak Falls

 For a quick getaway, you can take everyone for a picnic to this scenic area, just a half hour’s drive away from the madness of Manila.

Why go there: Although swimming is not allowed, it’s a fine place for the kids to run around and enjoy some fresh air. The falls themselves are a pleasure to look at.   

Family-friendly factor: Pretty much whatever you bring with you is okay, in terms of creature comforts and entertainment. For photography buffs, it’s not a bad place to shoot.  

May cost you: between P8 and P15 to enter and rent a table or picnic umbrella.Actually getting to Hinulugang Taktak will a bit cost more.

Fun factoid: Most people over the age of 50 will recognize Hinulugang Taktak as a place referred to in an old folk song called ‘Tayo Na Sa Antipolo’.

May 11: Mountain Peak 

For families who wish greater privacy and want to enjoy a refreshing swim and the opportunity to spend time with one another, Mountain Peak is the way to go!

Why go there: Ideal for large families and/or big barkadas, it’s basically renting your own resort for parties, get-togethers and family gatherings. The lower areas can be rented out for even larger groups. 

Family-friendly factor: Mountain Peak has sleeping arrangements for 15 people, at maximum. There’s an adult and kiddie pool, as well as a billiard table. There’s even videoke for your Tito Boy who fancies himself a crooner.

May cost you: anywhere between P10,000 to P12,000 for a 12-hour stretchFun factoid: The resort is around 60 meters above sea level. It faces the southeastern face of Mount Makiling so it also has some pretty scenery.

May 18: Eagle Point Resort

 Batangas is a haven for all sorts of pleasures by the sea. Treat your loved ones to an invigorating swim in Eagle Point Resort and see the splendor of Philippine marine life.

Why go there: Whether you prefer snorkeling and diving into the open water or basking in the midday sun, Eagle Point is an excellent choice for a family getaway.

Family-friendly factor: They offer babysitting services and have a children’s wading pool big enough for 30 kids. There is also a butterfly park and playground.

May cost you: anywhere between P3,300 to P4,500 for an overnight stay

Fun factoid: The Reef Pool is a modified swimming pool with access to the saltwater from the open sea. You can swim with baby sharks – but no touching.

May 25: Camsur Watersports Complex

 For an adventurous, athletic, thrill-seeking family, there’s no experience like the Camsur Watersports Complex.  Make this a vacation to remember!

Why go there: This is where to go if you want to learn how to wakeboard, wake-skate, water-ski, kayak or jet-ski. Novices and pros always have something to look forward to at the complex. 

Family-friendly factor: There’s wifi in the area, swimming pools, cozy cabanas to rent out for short stays and comfy lodgings at cabins for longer spells. For younger kids, they even have an inflatable ‘bouncy’ house for play.

May cost you: from P1,000 to P4,250 for an overnight stay. The various activities range between P165 to P6,000 depending on the activity and the length of time involved.

Fun factoid: Needless to say, a number of the activities are for older kids. Consult with the staff here for what activities are suitable for which age bracket.
