This Affordable Play Place Will Keep Your Hyper Toddler Entertained

We sent a mom and her son to try two indoor playgrounds in Cubao. Find her review of the first play place here.

In the Philippines, malling is practically a national sport. Particularly in hot, highly urbanized Metro Manila, families endure the long parking queues to spend the weekend in an airconditioned shopping center. To keep kids entertained, many malls have indoor playgrounds, varying in size and amenities. But weekly trips to these playgrounds can really add up (we’re talking a thousand bucks or more a pop). However, there's one place in Cubao that is worth a visit if you want your child to enjoy some active play: an indoor playground called AwesomeVille.

Located in Gateway Mall, AwesomeVille is a compact playground with slides, padded ramps, walkways, bridges, obstacles, a trampoline, and a fairly deep ball pool. One part looks like a pirate ship’s bow, with striped red and white sails. The higher areas are enclosed by nets for safety. There are also a couple of swings, a small play area with foam blocks, and some plastic animal rockers.

The place has been around for three years, so there’s a bit of wear and tear on the signs posted, but it’s clean. There aren’t a lot in terms of amenities for parents (only a few Monoblock chairs), but you can always join your kid in the ball pool—there’s something strangely Zen about slowly sinking into the blue and white balls. There are no lockers or baggage deposit counters, but there are cubby holes for shoes and bags (just keep your valuables on you).

It’s pretty basic, but it’s enough to keep hyperactive children entertained. There is a sufficient number of employees on hand, and the place is compact enough for them to keep an eye on everything, reminding kids not to jump off ledges or run around. We went on a weekday, so there weren’t a lot of people, but we were told that even on weekends, the place rarely gets crowded. The best part? It’s only P200/hour for one child and one guardian!

AwesomeVille is located at Level 4, Gateway Mall, Araneta Center, Cubao, Quezon City. Open 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily. P200/hour for one child and one guardian; P400/3 hours for one child and one guardian. P100 for additional companion. Socks are required and are available for purchase at P50/pair.
