When we talk about Cubao—er, Araneta City, one of the first things to come to mind for millennials and Gen X'ers is the classic Fiesta Carnival. Dubbed in the '80s to '90s as Manila's Disneyland, this theme park is a core memory for anyone around that time. Feeling the FOMO yet, Gen Zs? Don't worry. You'll have your chance to make your own memories as the Fiesta Carnival is reopening in Araneta City this year.
Here's what we know about Fiesta Carnival's return to Araneta City:
You might be thinking, wasn't Fiesta Carnival already around last year? Well, the Araneta group did, in fact, bring back the Fiesta Carnival along with the Christmas on Display attraction in November 2022. Last year's Fiesta Carnival, although fun and nostalgic, was still nowhere near the OG, and sadly, after a fire broke out at the Araneta City Bus Terminal this year, we had to say goodbye to the theme park again.
But don't worry thrill-seeking Spotters, happier news is on the way. We recently spotted Fiesta Carnival signage on the old Shopwise Araneta Center building.
Reports have been around for a while claiming a return of this theme park giant, but this seems to be our first concrete proof of this happening. SPOT.ph spoke with representatives from Araneta City, who confirmed that the park is reopening sometime in the third week of November this year.
Representatives from Araneta City also informed SPOT.ph that this new Fiesta Carnival will only be around for a limited time as the Shopwise Araneta Center is slated to be redeveloped as a mixed-use high-rise center.
But rest assured, despite being a limited-time attraction, this Fiesta Carnival will take over all 13,000 square meters of the Shopwise building and house rides for adults and small kids alike. So yes, we can expect rides like the bump car, indoor trains, and the like to make a comeback. Fingers crossed, we also get a big kid indoor rollercoaster this iteration.
