Family Weekender Guide: 10 Things to Do this March 5-6

1.    Register your family (and canine companions!) to the Good Housekeeping Family Fun Run.

In the spirit of fitness, and as summer vacation rolls around, encourage the whole family to get into the joys of running by registering for the Good Housekeeping’s Family Fun Run on April 3, 2011, at the Manila Ocean Park.

Registration is at the Summit Media Office or at R.O.X. in Bonifacio Global City. Registration fee is P50 to P200, depending on the run category to be joined.

2. Witness as Japan and Canada face off in the 2nd Philippine International PyroMusical Competition.

Watch the heavens go ablaze with color and lights with fantastic fireworks displays from international contenders in the second installment of the Philippine International PyroMusical Competition at the SM Mall of Asia.

3. Catch romantic musical comedy "Breakups & Breakdowns" at Teatrino, Greenhills, San Juan City.

Bring your husband or wife and laugh out on a date and laugh your heart out with this production written, directed and starred in by Joel Trinidad.

4.  Have your kids learn how to keep safe and prevent fires with Museo Pambata’s “Kids Learn Fire Prevention!”

Visit Museo Pambata’s Anino sa Museo section and have your kids learn all about how to prevent and keep safe from fires this Fire Prevention Month. Firefighters from the Association of Volunteer Fire Brigades will be present to give a talk on fire safety and firefighting equipment.

5. Visit the Babae Kapuso ng Bayan: Women Entrepreneurship Summit at the World Trade Center.

8. Celebrate Women’s Month and run for a mommy at the Mammathon in Quezon City.

 

As a way to promote breast cancer awareness, Quezon City is holding its 2011 International Women’s Month Mammathon on March 6, Sunday, from 6 to 10 a.m., at the Quezon Memorial Circle. The run will be passing through a section of Commonwealth Avenue.

When you register, you get a race kit, a 40% discount for a mammogram at St. Luke’s Medical Center, and a raffle entry for a chance to win a vacation package, a cruise, and more. An auction of artworks, jewelry will also be held, along with a Benefit Breakfast.

9. Discover the wonders of the human body at the “Myth of the Human Body” exhibit in Taguig City.

See real bodies preserved via the process of plastination at the “Myth of the Human Body” exhibit, held at the Neobabylon Building at 9 Bayani Road, AFPOVAI in Taguig City. Tickets are at P360.50 each and are available at TicketWorld (call 891-9999 for details), but if your kiddo’s three years old and below, he gets in for free.

10. Have some quality bonding time with your furry canine friends at “The Amaze-ing Garden Adventure” at the Ayala Triangle Gardens.

Bring your canine companions for a one-of-a-kind obstacle course this March 6, Sunday, at 2 p.m. Registration fee is P1,200 for every human-dog team. Proceeds will go to the Philippine Animal Welfare Society.
