If your baby is a Pororo fanatic, you no longer have to bring him to Korea to get up close and personal with his favorite cartoon character. There’s a new indoor theme park right in Cebu, along with cute accommodations that are dedicated to this charming little penguin who’s always ready to do a little problem solving while having fun with his friends.
Pororo Park and the themed family suites are located at Jpark Resort and Waterpark in Mactan, Cebu, and it’s a huge two-storey depiction of the super-cute Porong Porong forest right inside this cool tropical destination.
Rides and slides
The theme park is divided into two levels for maximum fun, with the upper level holding the attractions for the bigger kids and the lower deck dedicated to the Toddler’s Zone.
Pororo Game Zone, the upper level has cool rides like Eddy the inventor’s Sliding Car, which not only goes up and down a short ramp but actually spins riders around for an element of surprise. Those who want to kick it up a no water park tch will want to go on Tutu’s 4D Rider for a thrilling tech experience, while parents and kids who want to go old-school can head to the tracks for Pororo’s Train Ride.
Aside from the rides, some attractions encourage physical activity, with a colorful giant Sliding Ball Pool, an Aqua Play Zone, and Crong’s Jungle Gym that comes complete with a giant trampoline.
There are interactive techie teaching tools, too, with Rody the robot’s Racing Game, where kids run as fast as they can to get their character come out first, and the Digital Sketch room, where they can color their character and watch it come alive on the screen. Mom and dad might want to join in at the mini Bowling Alley and Gorilla Darts games.
For maximum fun, there’s a Giant Slide -- the first one in any Pororo Park location – where kids get to go down a chute that brings them to safely land in a ball pit that is located at the lower level.
A zone for little ones
What makes this theme park more enjoyable for families is that the lower level is dedicated to the smaller kids. It means that parents don’t have to worry about their little ones getting bumped by the bigger boys and girls.
Downstairs, there’s a trampoline that is dedicated to toddlers, who also have their own little Soft Foam Zone and mini Jungle Gym. It is also here that mom and dad can sit, sip coffee, and enjoy baked goodies at a cute Korean-style café called Loopy’s House, so named after Pororo’s friend who loves to cook. For added convenience, they have pastel-pretty Breastfeeding and Diaper-Change Stations on both levels, with the lower ground station even offering baby cots for a little nap break.
Pororo and his friends are there too, of course, with a fun-filled musical mascot show and there’s also a souvenir shop that contains oodles of huggable plushies and other cutesy K-style merch.
Some notes: The recommended age group for kids is up to 12 years old. Kids five and under must be accompanied by an adult, although there is a babysitting service available too, at Php500 and hour for locals and $10 for foreigners. All-day access for big kids is at Php3,750 and for babies 0 to 2, it’s at Php1,500. There are different rates for two- or three-hour stays. Socks are required because shoes will be left behind in a locker area.
