  • Most of us turn to the humble sandwich as a go-to recess baon option for the kids. It’s filling, simple, and quick to make. But there are times when kids tire of the same old cheese spread, peanut butter, or ham. So banish barely-touched sandwiches, and try packing these easy sandwich delights: 

    1. Tuna and Cheese Sandwich

    Here’s a tried-and-tested trick for getting your kiddo to eat his baon: make it fun! Cheese and tuna go well together, and the added effort of cutting the bread into adorable fishes is totally worth it. It will entice your child to eat seafood if has yet to warm up to tuna. These are easy to share with friends so pack a little extra! 

    Makes 3 sandwiches
    Ready in 15 minutes

    6 pieces white bread
    1 can (180-gram) tuna in water, drained
    1 tablespoon celery, chopped
    1/4 cup mayonnaise
    3 slices cheddar cheese
    black olives, sliced
    1/2 small red bell pepper, sliced into long strips
    1/2 small green bell pepper, sliced into short strips

    2.  Pulled Chicken Sandwich

    Now, this only looks complicated, but trust us, you'll be adding this sandwich to your weekly baon rotation in no time. It's super simple to make. And, if you already have shredded chicken, this will take you considerably less time to prepare than it takes for your child to get dressed for school.

    Ready in 10 minutes

    1 quarter rotiserie chicken, shredded
    1/8 to 1/3 cup barbecue sauce, we used hunt's
    salt and pepper, to taste
    1 burger bun, toasted
    1 gherkin pickle, sliced

    3. Grilled Cheese and Corned Beef Sandwich

    4 slices whole-wheat bread, toasted lightly
    2 pieces ripe bananas (lakatan variety), sliced
    8 tablespoons smooth or chunky peanut butter
    6 strips bacon

    5. German Franks Sandwich

    This no-fuss sandwich takes a snap of the fingers to prepare and sneaks a little vegetable (or a lot, depends on you) into your child's baon. A sure winner, this sandwich's mayonnaise top is mixed with carrots and cabbages.

    3 pieces german franks
    1 tablespoon butter
    3 hotdog rolls
    1/3 cup mayonnaise
    1/3 cup sliced cabbage
    diced carrots
