    bag tag

After spending a good amount of time picking the nice school supplies for your child and paying a significant amount of money on them, what a waste it would be if his bag gets lost in a sea of similar-looking bags in school! Make his belongings easily identifiable with this metallic luggage tag, in a cute sheep design.

Available for P145 at National Bookstore

    2. DIY Color your Bookend

I especially like this bookend I found at Powerbooks. Aside from keeping your books organized, it also helps kids to express themselves artistically because it doubles as a coloring project. The kit comes with markers in red, blue and green.

Available on sale for P164 at Powerbooks

    3. Le Petit Prince notebook

    Little Prince notebook

I’m a certified paper and pen addict, and I often find myself buying notebooks and stationery that catch my fancy. This Le Petit Prince notebook inspired by the famous novel by Antoine de Saint-Exupery was no exception. Motivate your child to write down important notes with this, and while you're at it, make him familiar with the famous line from the novel, too.

Available for P140 at Fully Booked

    4. Adventure Time notebooks

My son is so into Adventure Time the TV show, that I’m sure he would want to use these notebooks even if he’s already in high school. When I heard that the Philippines is the first country in Asia to make Adventure Time merchandise available, I was so glad because now kids have more design options for their school supplies. There’s also shirts and DVDs, and soon, towels, slippers, and hankies, too!

Available at leading department stores across the country.

    5. Lifefactory glass bottles with flip-top cap

One of my worst habits is not drinking enough water. Part of this is because the taste is inevitably altered just by putting it in a plastic container. This problem got solved when I got my Lifefactory glass bottle. Now, it's also more convenient for schoolkids to use because of the flip-top cap, and you won’t have to worry anymore about them losing the screw-type cap. It’s BPA/BPS-free and phthalate-free, and its silicone sleeve eliminates the danger of breakage even if they drop it (yes, I’ve dropped mine by accident and it took a four-feet tumble without breaking). How cool is that?

Available at leading sports stores nationwide

    6. Magnets

No need to say much about these magnets – they’re magnets, period, but don’t you want to pet these lambs or feed these birds?

Bird magnets, P125 for 4 pcs, and sheep magnets, P99 for 4 pcs at Powerbooks

    7. Para’Kito protection bands

With the DOH giving another warning about the rise of dengue cases in the country recently, I’m not taking chances. Last year, I learned about Para’Kito protection bands and how they can effectively keep disease-carrying mosquitoes away using safe and all-natural ingredients. Just wear it around your arm, or clip one onto your child's bag, and it will protect him 24 hours a day for 15 straight days. What I also like about them is that they continually incorporate style into their products, so kids (and adults) who are particular about what they wear can easily slip them into their ensembles.

Available at leading sports stores nationwide

    8. Ruler

Back in my time, rulers all looked the same. I’m glad to see more styles available.

    Available for P23.25 at Powerbooks

    9. Total Girl school planner

    Total Girl School Planner

If I were still in school, I’d get myself a Total Girl School Planner. Aside from the obvious fact that it’s cuteness overload, I love that it includes in its pages motivational tips, a weekly allowance tracker, inspiring posters, stickers, and lots of ideas for creative projects for your little one!

Available for P195 at leading bookstores

    10. Kate footwear by Butterfly Twists

    Butterfly Twists

I’m a mom, therefore my bag is full of “just-in-case” items. This pair of foldable flats fits this category, and should be in any mom’s bag just in case it rains, or your feet can’t do any more walking in high heels, or your sandals suddenly snap. They’re so comfortable I’d recommend them also to bigger kids for after-school activities.

Available for P1,599 at Butterfly Twists (with branches at Rustans Makati, Shangri-La Mall, Glorietta 2 and SM Aura Premier)
