Dreaming Big in A Tiny Space: Step Inside This Charming 42 sqm House with a Dipping Pool

Ogie Muñoz had always been interested in unique architectural designs. More so with the rising popularity of tiny homes. 

One night, as he stumbled upon a beautiful tiny house on Instagram, he became inspired to build his very own. 

“Pumasok lang sa isip ko, ‘Bakit hindi magkaro’n dito sa Pampanga ng gano’n?’” he tells the OG team. “Kinausap ko yung family ko kung okay lang ba sa kanila yung design na gano’n. Very supportive naman sila na pinagamit nila yung family lot namin. Nakatulong sila sa confidence ko na i-pursue yung build na tiny house.” 

Today, Ogie is a proud owner of a modern 42 square meter home with its own dipping pool, brimming with charm and functionality. 

Stepping inside, big windows bathe the interior with natural light. Built loft type-style, the abode emanates spaciousness. Another technique Ogie employed in the home to create a sense of space is utilizing open-concept living.  

Even the toilet and bath is roomy.  

Underneath the staircase, meanwhile, is additional storage space, perfect for big items such as luggage.  

“Kita mo na yung bedroom, kitchen, living area, and workstation in just one glimpse to maximize the space since it’s only 42 square meters,” Ogie explains. 

In the kitchen, open floating cabinets display appliances, while a breakfast nook with an accent wall also made with Hardie Planks. The choice of material was intentional as these don’t require a lot of maintenance and won’t attract termites. 

“Naka-show din lahat ng mga appliances and plates para unang-una, ma-increase yung space ng house and nakikita namin siya sa Pinterest and cute siya tingnan,” Ogie notes. 

Going up the staircase is the bedroom with a king-size bed, made cozy with cove lights and featuring an entertainment system. 

“One of the highlights din dito sa tiny house and also kung bakit ko favorite yung bedroom is yung projector screen which puwede mo panoorin kahit anong movies or series na gusto mo,” Ogie shares. “Yung guests din na nasa baba mo naman, nakikita rin naman nila. Plus, connected din siya sa speaker natin dito to complete the cinematic experience.” 

At the moment, Ogie and his family welcome guests who would like to experience tiny home living. To those who wish to set up a similar tiny home business, he emphasizes the need for research and education. 

“Number one is alamin niyo muna if gusto niyo talaga sa real estate na business,” he cautions. “And number two, kailangan niyong i-educate yung self niyo by reading books. Maraming books na makakatulong sa inyo para i-understand kung pa’no yung real estate side.”  

“And then number three is ‘pag nakuha niyo na lahat ng knowledge na ‘yon, nasa inyo na kung pa’no niyo siya ie-execute. Yung mga pumipigil lang naman sa tao is yung sarili nila. So nasa sarili niyo na ‘yon kung ico-continue niyo or hahayaan niyo na lang.”
