This Vacation Home Is A Resort-Themed Masterpiece Designed For Any Occasion

The Only Good channel may have only been launched in 2021, but it’s already inspired thousands of Filipinos to build their dream home.

Take Cody Lumbang, for example, who has been an avid OG subscriber for a while, now. In fact, he’s such a big fan of the channel that as a result, he and his wife were able to build their dream home.

“Lagi kaming nanonood ng OG channel,” he tells the OG team. “'Nakikita namin do’n yung mga house na magaganda yung design na very relaxing, rest house, retirement house, and especially yung story na fini-feature sa OG na nakaka-inspire sila ng ibang people.”

15 years after purchasing a 1,000 square meter lot in Pampanga in the early 2000s, they realized that they wanted to use the space for their dream home.

“Gusto namin yung resort feels na bahay na nakaka-relax tapos maco-combine mo yung modern na house sa nature,” Cody shares. 

Enter Obra Maestro

The Lumbangs christened their 150 to 160 square meter home “Obra Maestro”, which translates to “masterpiece”, a fitting description for the structure, which features a minimalist and contemporary vibe.

Spanning the front of the home is a 32 square meter pool with direct access to a lounge and an 800 square meter open area suitable for events and occasions such as birthdays and weddings. A gazebo area sits nearby where guests can relax while having coffee.

The lounge area features a series of glass walls that let natural light in, with plants for freshness and a wall cladding design with clear glass, as inspired by OG’s Modern Tropical House video.

The living room, on the other hand, showcases dutung betis, or artisans of quality furniture in Pampanga. Narra tables and a mahogany and solihiya sofa are the key centerpieces in the area. A bar displays the Lumbangs’ collection of spirits and wines, while the dining area offers a beautiful view of the pool of the garden.

A tropical resort-themed haven

To access the bedrooms, one needs to take the outdoor stairs and pass through the balcony, which once again features the wall cladding design for that tropical resort vibe.

Obra Maestro has two bedrooms: one with bunk beds good for 12 people, and another with two double beds good for six people. Both of the rooms carry Cody’s DIY console table made of mahogany wood, with bathrooms equipped with a digital touchscreen mirror.

“‘Pag nando’n ka, magla-light yung likod nung mirror and then yung accent niya, meron siyang brown accent na tile sa middle,” Cody explains.

All in all, the Lumbangs spent P4.5 million for the construction of the house and an additional million for the furniture and appliances. To those planning on building their dream house, Cody says it all boils down to three things: the lot, the homeowner’s concept, and a reliable architect or engineer to ensure the quality of the structure.
