A few years before marrying husband Ali Khatibi and giving birth to daughter Amarah, Cristine Reyes found solace in a suburban area south of Metro Manila. While this was not her first home—she also stayed in her family home in Marikina City (which was affected by Typhoon Ondoy in 2009) and in a luxurious townhouse in Quezon City—she says this one meant the most to her as it mirrored her state of mind at that time.
A lot of people are surprised when they find out that Cristine took charge of the three-month renovation process. Although she had the help of an interior-designer friend, she has a keen eye for design. The actress stayed on top of shopping for all the furniture and choosing the color schemes for each room. She ended up going for an all-white palette with hints of color ranging from periwinkle to crimson that gave the entire space a calmer vibe.
LIVING AREA The all-white color palette gave this room an airy and spacious feel. Cristine went for open built-in shelves to display her favorite knickknacks.

DINING AREA Although Cristine was set on keeping the color palette neutral, she gave in to this lime green that lent a bright pop of color to her dining area. She continued the vibrant undertone with the plants on display. The marble table and leather chairs are custom-made.

KITCHEN Cristine kept the look of her kitchen very simple and utilitarian, sticking to clean lines, a monochrome palette, and wooden details. The planters scattered across the countertops add an accent color to the space.

STAIRWAY LANDING Cristine turned her stairway landing into a cozy way station by adding comfortable seating and a few pieces of contemporary art to keep the walls from looking bare and dull.

ENTERTAINMENT ROOM Being an actress and a huge fan of film herself, she made certain that her entertainment room décor didn’t miss a beat. She opted for padded walls in muted-but-dark colors so viewers can enjoy a full visual and auditory experience when hanging out in this spot.

BEDROOM The patterned cream, gray and lavender wallpaper acts as a great base for the statement pieces in the room. To keep the look streamlined, she chose a beige upholstered bed with white sheets, tan drapes, and wooden side tables.

BEDROOM Since Cristine loves to take a few minutes from her day to let her mind wander, she added extra seating on the balcony of her bedroom. The touches of green are further incorporated into her space through ivy-covered panels around her terrace.

BATHROOM The strongest color, a powerful red, is found here. Mosaic tiles in the same shade can be found near the shower area to help break the monotony of the room while the mirrored closet doors were added to create an illusion of a bigger space.

WALK-IN CLOSET Reminiscent of the posh boutiques in New York, her walk-in closet is every girl’s dream. From the crystal chandelier that sets the mood to the Louis Vuitton bags that double as decor pieces, Cristine made sure that every part of the room will make dressing up a fun part of her day.
