A sheriff’s deputy in Summerville, South Carolina, was credited with saving the life of a 12-day-old baby on June 11 during a routine traffic stop.
According to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy W. Kimbro stopped a car for speeding when the driver exited the vehicle and told the deputy that a baby in the car had stopped breathing after taking a drink from a bottle.
Deputy Kimbro, who was awarded the “Life-Saving Medal” by the sheriff’s office, performed first aid on the baby’s “limp and cyanotic body” and was able to get the child breathing again shortly before medics arrived.
