A woman in Jacksonville, Florida, USA, paid tribute to a child she lost by trying to brighten the birthday of another, asking if she could pay for someone’s cake at a local supermarket.
Nick DeClemente, an employee at a Jacksonville Publix supermarket, posted the story on his Facebook page with a photo of the cake order and sales receipt. DeClemente said the woman came to the bakery counter asking to pay for a cake. When he asked for a name to inscribe on it, she said she wanted to pay for any customer’s cake. “She then started to tear up and tell me that she had a stillborn child a year ago and in tribute to him she wanted to pay for someone else’s cake,” the October 10, 2018 post said.

DeClemente said he found a cake order form, and the woman thanked him. “I hope that this lady finds peace through this tribute and that the customer receiving this gift will, if nothing else, pay it forward,” he said. As of writing, the post has more than 400 reactions on Facebook.
