A woman in Jacksonville, Florida, USA, paid tribute to a child she lost by trying to brighten the birthday of another, asking if she could pay for someone’s cake at a local supermarket.
Nick DeClemente, an employee at a Jacksonville Publix supermarket, posted the story on his Facebook page with a photo of the cake order and sales receipt. DeClemente said the woman came to the bakery counter asking to pay for a cake. When he asked for a name to inscribe on it, she said she wanted to pay for any customer’s cake. “She then started to tear up and tell me that she had a stillborn child a year ago and in tribute to him she wanted to pay for someone else’s cake,” the October 10, 2018 post said.
