When Glaiza de Castro got married in her now-husband David Rainey's native country Northern Island on October 12, 2021, they didn't exchange rings. That's because they wanted to do the symbolical rite in the second wedding they were then already planning to take place in the Philippines.
Glaiza and David's Filipiniana-themed wedding finally happened just last January 23, 2023 at a beach resort in the Botolan town of Zambales.
Two days later, the radiant bride took to Instagram to share photos from their special day, particularly the one with her dashing groom taken while the sun was setting down. She wrote in the caption, "Ngayon lang nagka time tumulala at huminga pero di parin nag si sink in yung nangyari."
Glaiza went on sharing that she remembered talking to her friend and fellow actress Chynna Ortaleza, who's also one of her bridesmaids, the morning of her wedding.
"Dahil ang ganda ng sunset the day before," Glaiza explained in her caption. "Sabi ko sana mamaya rin. Sabi niya, hayaan na natin si Lord magpinta kung ano yung gusto niyang ipinta mamaya."
She added, "Ito mismo yun, sa sobrang ganda ng artwork niya, naiyak ako. Yun na yung pinaka masayang gift na natanggap namin dahil naramdaman ko na siya mismo nag abot.
"Kaya salamat sa lahat ng prayers mula sa pamilya ko hanggang sa mga kaibigan. Ang saya lang makita na andun lahat ng mga importanteng tao sa buhay namin. Marami pa tong mga susunod na posts kaya pasensya na kung mag flood ako, minsan lang to."
The wedding ceremony took place at the hilly part of the beach resort, overlooking the vastness of the ocean. But, Glaiza said in one of her posts, they originally chose the garden area.

A love story
Glaiza and David first crossed paths in Siargao, where she decided to celebrate her 30th birthday on January 21, 2018, and he happened to be on the island for a trip.
The GMA-7 top star recalled in an interview with the Kapuso show, Bright Side: "One night, may tumutugtog na isang kanta na sobrang favorite ko. Hinanap ko kung sino 'yung nagpapatugtog, apparently siya pala 'yon. Nag-usap na kami."
Glaiza and David continued their communication even after he went back home to Ireland. While there, he pursued her by sending love letters and gift packages. They became boyfriend-girlfriend in September 2018.
By February 2019, Glaiza had already met David's family during David's 30th birthday celebration that took place in England, also in the United Kingdom like Northern Ireland.
Glaiza got to know more David's family and friends when she returned to England in June that year to pursue her studies in music. After three months, she went home and resumed her acting career.
David then came to visit her in time for their first anniversary as a couple in September 2019. His visit was extended when the COVID-19 pandemic started in March 2020, and he got stuck in Baler, where Glaiza and her family have a house. It was the perfect opportunity for him to become close to his now-in laws.
After a few months, David was able to fly back home in Northern Ireland. Glaiza followed suit, unknowingly that her beau had prepared a ring and a proposal. They got engaged in December 2020.
The couple made a few back and forths, while managing a long-distance relationship, until they got married in Ireland, very near a castle once served as a location for the international hit series, Game of Thrones. But Glaiza only made it public through an interview with Jessica Soho in February 2022.
