You really, really have to suspend judgment and put a pause on your beliefs about love and sex. You have to be open (pun intended — sorry, we couldn’t help it!) when you read Raoul Rossetti’s memoir An Italian Gigolo in the City.
Not because it is a steamy read, although that is the first reason you’ll want to read this (we say enjoy it). But the book is a look at the complexities of female emotions. What pushes a woman to hire a male escort?
We first read about Raoul, a male escort who does not mind the gigolo label one bit, in Cosmopolitan Philippines. His clients — women in their 20s to early 50s — would fly him to wherever they are. Who are these women?
The women typically fall into four categories, and “Pamela” is someone Smart Parenting readers who send us their #SPconfession will recognize. (Married women will find Chapter 4 “Anna” of the memoir fascinating.)
Raoul writes, “Pamela is not separated but unhappy with her husband for many reasons. She’s bored, feels neglected, suspects the husband is cheating, and wants to get back at him. Pamela doesn’t want to end her marriage, though. But she still has needs, so instead of having an affair, Pamela calls me instead.”
And Pamela pays Raoul US$500 an hour to US$1000 a night. You’re all thinking: he’s that good?! Well, his book’s press release does describe Raoul as someone who makes love “in expert ways that leave [women] begging for more.”
