Christopher and Charo Adriano Just when Charo Antonio thought she would live the life of an old maid, love came along. Here's her story.
“Do you believe in the saying that things will happen when you least expect them? I do. I was single for six years, and I was already losing hope of ever getting married. My friends and relatives kept teasing me about this. A fortune teller once told me that I haven't met my future husband yet, and I wondered if that time would ever come. I was already resigned to the possibility of ending up as an old maid, and prayed to St. Jude to help me accept it if this was my fate.
I tried mobile chatting out of boredom and that's when Chris and I “met” online. We hit it off instantly. He would constantly send short messages. However, our supposed first meeting was called off and I was so frustrated that I stopped replying.
Two years later, we reconnected and he pursued me consistently until we finally met in person. When he had mustered enough courage to formally court me, he braved my father's guns (figurative only, I must say) and promised him that he will love me and will never hurt me.
Chris proposed to me six months later; not exactly during dinner by candlelight, but it was grand to me just the same. We got married on October 16, 2010. Who would have thought that within a year after seeing each other again, I would become Mrs. Christopher Adriano? Until now he remains to be the simple man from Nueva Ecija whom I fell for. Everything he does makes me realize just how lucky I am that he chose me to spend his life with. Looking back, I realize that I shouldn’t have wasted my tears waiting for the right man; God definitely has a plan for each and everyone, and we only need to have faith."
