One thing admirable about Sophie Albert and Vin Abrenica as a couple is how they took their time nurturing their relationship before they got married in not just one but two wedding ceremonies.
The couple tied the knot in church on January 25, 2023, and three days later, on a mountainside. Their official photography provider, Nice Print Photo, described their second trip to the altar as "an intimate wedding ceremony in a glass house inspired church setting in the middle of lush Tagaytay greenery."
Sophie and Vin said it best in the caption of their joint social media post by quoting a biblical verse from Songs of Solomon 3:4, which says, "I have found the one whom my soul loves."
A love story
Sophie and Vin first met as contestants in Artista Academy, a reality-based talent search aired on TV5 in 2012, in which they emerged as the grand winners. The following year, the two went from best friends to a romantic couple.
They managed to keep their relationship private, healthy, and strong as they moved to other networks (she to GMA-7, he to ABS-CBN), where their respective careers flourished.
On December 12, 2020, they got engaged, but they only made the announcement two months later, on February 13, 2021. They soon shared the good news of expecting a baby and eventually becoming parents with the birth of their daughter Avianna Celeste on March 15, 2021.
Sophie tried to explain, in a past interview with Smart Parenting, what makes her relationship with Vin work: "Honestly, I don't know how ours is different from other relationships. But, I think, because-- it might be cliché, ha? Pero I really think, and I really, really super believe that it's because we started out as friends.
"So, we were very good friends before we became girlfriend and boyfriend. And I think, that's something that I like about our relationship, it's not like-- honestly, if you're with us, you'll really like think that we're just friends, 'cause we're not super-- I don't know, parang we joke about things.
"We're very open about everything. Yeah, I guess we just really show, like, our true, true selves. There's nothing na censored sa aming dalawa. So even the grossest stuff, even bathroom things, there's no censor. So yeah, we're just like friends who enjoy each other's company, I guess."
Sophie also said Vin takes an active role in raising their daughter. That's why, she pointed out, "Anything I can do, he can do as well" (read here).
Sophie complimented Vin on how they handle money matters (read here) and for sharing the load of the household chores.
"He loves to clean," she said of her better-half. "So, when we didn't have help yet, he was actually the one doing all the cleaning. He really likes it. And he has an obsession with buying cleaning products.
"Ang dami-dami naming cleaning products. Ang dami naming vacuum kasi halos lahat na ng vacuum binibili niya. He just wants to try everything out. So yeah, he really enjoys cleaning and he's really a neat person."
