Tirso Cruz III, Wife Lynn Celebrate 41 Years Of Marriage And As Lifetime PartnersThe couple have three children: TJ, Bodie, and Dyanin.by Jocelyn Valle .
Tirso Cruz III's wife Lynn Ynchausti-Cruz turned nostalgic on Instagram as they celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary on May 25, 2022.
Lynn, who also manages the acting career of Tirso, shared a few photos in her post and a short description for each. For starters, she recalled not having their photos taken when they exchanged "I do's" on May 25, 1981.
To make up for that regretful oversight, the then newlyweds had a photo shoot "months or a year after," with Lynn wearing a bridal gown and Tirso donning a barong Tagalog.
Five years after they became husband and wife, Lynn said they "renewed their marriage vows by the late Rev. Doy Castillo." At the time, Reverend Castillo, also known as Dr. Cornelio Castillo, was the senior pastor at the Bread From Heaven Christian Fellowship.
Lynn also shared a few shots from her and Tirso's 25th wedding anniversary celebration, which was attended by their "very few and closest friends and family members."ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
Lastly, she shared a couple of snaps taken during their renewal of vows held in a town in Israel known to be the site of the Biblical place, Cana of Galilee. The memorable event was attended by their children TJ, Bodie, and Dyanin.
Lynn recalled how they pulled off such a historic milestone: "In 2016, just before our 35th Wedding Anniversary, we prayed to the Lord for provisions so we can travel to Israel with our children and renew our marriage vows in Cana, where the Lord performed His very first miracle.
"Praise God, the Lord provided, so on April 19, 2016, we got married again (last 5 photos) with no other than our dear Pastor Nomer Bernardino officiating."
She went on explaining, "To add, to our weddings mentioned, we still had other renewal of marriage vows, I think twice or even more, during our Marriage Encounter seminars and church services when the Pastor would ask who would like to renew their vows."CONTINUE READING BELOWRecommended Videos
At the end of Lynn's post, she honored her husband Tirso: "It was always fun getting married or renewing vows to the man you truly love and which was handpicked and chosen by the Lord to be your lifetime partner. I am truly blessed and thankful to the Lord for you @tirsocruziii. Happy Anniversary! Love you!"
For his part, Tirso shared a shot from their 25th wedding anniversary on his own Instagram account. But as his practice for the last few years, he addressed his post not to his wife but to their eldest TJ, who succumbed to cancer in 2018.
Tirso wrote in the caption: "GODly heavenly morning TJ. It's our 41st wedding anniversary today. Sayang lang I won't be able to celebrate it with your mama because I am here in Ilocos for taping."ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
The award-winning actor is referring to his work on the long-running drama series, FPJ's Ang Probinsyano, in which he plays the villaneous Sec. Arturo "Art" Padua.
He added, "Anyway, we'll celebrate na lang when I get home. Missing you more during special occassions like this. Love you Teej."
Tirso and Lynn's love story
The couple narrated to this writer, in an interview for YES! Magazine, how they met and ended up as one of Philippine showbiz's most enduring marriages.
They first crossed paths sometime in 1980, in a bar along Timog Avenue in Quezon City called Lighthouse. Tirso—a member of the fame Cruz clan of musicians, singers, and actors—was singing with a band. Lynn, then a model, walked in and, upon seeing him, exclaimed: “Nakita ko na ang mapapangasawa ko!”
Tirso, at that time, was famous for being the ex, on and off-screen, of Superstar Nora Aunor. But Lynn swore she didn’t recognize the singer-actor. It didn’t matter to Tirso. “She was beautiful,” he thought, similarly smitten.
He got her number. They started dating. After six months, he proposed to her. She hesitated. She was 19 and wanted to be an airline attendant. He was 29 and ready to settle down. He warned her: “Pag sumipot ka sa final interview mo at natanggap ka, di mo na ’ko makikita kahit kelan.”
She chose to see him every day, and the rest is, as they say, history. But they admitted to dealing with doubters who said their marriage won’t last.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
“We were able to prove a lot of people wrong,” Tirso proudly said, and explained how: “Ang spiritual growth namin nagkasabay.” Lynn agreed, “When you put God in your family life and in your married life, you can never go wrong talaga.”
