How This Couple Rebuilt Their Lives Flipping Burgers After ABS-CBN LayoffDespite all the challenges, the couple did not lose hope.by Ana Gonzales .
You know what they say, 'When one door closes, a window opens." That's exactly what happened to Josh and Alysa Albelda.
Things were going well for the couple when they put up their business Burger Garage. People would line up outside their store and orders would just pour in.
But when the pandemic hit, they had to close their one and only branch and go back to where they started. Although takeout orders were allowed, it was not enough to sustain the business.
As if that was not bad enough, the company Josh was working for closed and he lost his job. He was a sports photographer for ABS-CBN. "Since nag-start 'yung pandemic, talagang nawala 'yung sporting events," he said.
"Ang pinakamahirap doon is sabay-sabay. Wala ka ng work, tapos namamatay pa 'yung business mo. 'Yun 'yung naging malaki ang effect sa amin," he added.
Despite all the challenges, the couple did not lose hope. They opened a new, bigger store where they would be able to accommodate customers without compromising safety.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
"Sa newest branch namin, mas maluwag, open air, and makakapag-accommodate kami ng mga customers na gustong kumain at mag-try ng food namin," Josh said.
