10 More Family-Friendly Movies to Watch Out For in 2011

1. Rango
Johnny Depp lends his voice to lead character Rango, a chameleon, in this Mexican-themed animated adventure film set in a dessert town called Mojave Dessert. The story revolves around Rango, a family pet who leaves his home to see the world. This movie was directed by Pirates of the Caribbean director Gore Verbinski.

2. Cars 2
After five years, the much awaited installment of the Pixar movie arrives in theaters in June 2011. Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) and Mater (Larry the Cable Guy) return to the race track, braving the streets of Tokyo. Fans of the movie should expect more heart racing scenes with this gadget-themed sequel.

3. Captain America: The First Avenger
America’s favorite Avenger hits the big screen in July 2011. Fans of the legendary Marvel comics character will get to see as Steve Rogers is injected with super soldier serum in order to become America’s ultimate weapon.

4. The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn
Walt Disney Pictures and Dreamworks capture Georges Remi’s Tintin comic strip into 3D with this first among three installments. Steven Spielberg directs the first movie, to be followed by Peter Jackson (Lord of the Rings fame).

5. Yogi Bear
If you grew up in the ‘80s, then you probably know who’s smarter than the average bear. Jellystone Park faces possible shutdown as the business goes down. Yogi Bear, Boo-Boo and Ranger Smith join forces to help save Jellystone Park for nature-loving families to still experience and enjoy.

6. Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules
Greg Heffley’s middle school antics will make audiences roar with laughter one more time with the return of Diary of a Wimpy Kid’s sequel: Rodrick Rules. Greg’s older brother Rodrick makes his life a living hell but teaches him some tricks of the trade to “live an easy life.”

7. The Smurfs
Another cartoon classic from the ‘80s, Smurfs comes back to life as it makes its animated film feature debut. The despicable wizard Gargamel throws out the blue Smurfs from their village, ending up on non-magical land, in New York. Celebrity voice actors include Neil Patrick Harris, Katy Perry, Jayma Mays, Sofia Vergara and Hank Azaria.

8. Spy Kids 4: All The Time In The World
The fourth installment to the Spy Kids hits theaters in August with no less than Jessica Alba leading the cast. Alba stars as ex-spy Marissa Cortez Wilson, wife to a spy TV reporter and mom to a newborn baby and twin stepchildren. Cortez has to go back in spy gear as an evil force looms and threatens to dominate the world.


9. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
The funny antics of Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) returns to the big screen as he encounters a woman from his past (Penelope Cruz), who is on a mad search for the fountain of youth. Sparrow gets thrust in a wild adventure as the woman from his past forces him aboard the ship Queen Anne’s Revenge, in order to aid her in her quest.

10. The Greatest Muppets Movie Ever Made
The Muppets cross paths once again in order to prevent The Muppet Studios in Hollywood from closing down. They have to stage a show in the Muppet Theater and get 10 million people to watch before a Texas oil tycoon buys the studio. Voice actors include Amy Adams, Jack Black and more.
