Manila Police Arrests 23 People During Baptism Party Held In Cemetery
  • We know quarantine restrictions have eased, and it is tempting to gather with family and friends after months of not being able to hold them, especially during Christmas. But, under GCQ, gatherings are limited to 10 people for a good reason. COVID-19 is still very much in our midst.

People continue to die because of COVID-19. And in other countries around the globe, they're experiencing second and third waves. In the United States, they are running out of hospital beds.

So it is disheartening to read the news that a baptism party has ended with guests being arrested.

GMA's News reported the Manila police arrested 23 people for "drinking liquor and violating minimum health protocols in a baptism party held inside the Manila North Cemetery."

The news report did not elaborate on the venue except to say the police found the guests gathered in a tent near tombs.

The police said most of the guests were not wearing face masks or face shields, which was unfortunate because they were doing videoke as well.

Remember, the virus can spread through respiratory droplets produced by an infected person when he sneezes, coughs, or talks, or in this case, sings.

We also know that the probability of COVID-19 as an airborne disease is very high. In fact, most scientists believe it to be a fact, and that's why it spreads so rapidly.

We are not out of the pandemic yet, people. If we want to make 2021 better, we need to follow health protocols.
