  • Since her wedding with food blogger Erwan Heussaff, actress and TV host Anne Curtis has been repeatedly asked about her plans to have a baby. However, Anne is in no hurry at all to get pregnant.

During a press conference for the 10th anniversary of It’s Showtime, Anne was asked about the topic yet again, ABS-CBN News reports. She then asked the press to stop asking women about marriage and having children.

“I think I should take this opportunity [to say] that the press should stop asking that to any woman because you don’t know what they’re going through,” Anne said. “For me, it will happen in God’s time, and I think at any time I’m ready for it. But I’m speaking for every woman. You don’t know what they’re going through.”

Anne continued, “I have a lot of friends who may be trying, and medyo nakakasakit when people keep asking them, ‘When are you going to have a baby?’ Maybe they just don’t want to have a baby.

“I hope you guys don’t take this the wrong way, but I think in respect to every woman, you should stop asking when they’re going to get married, why don’t they have a baby, or when they are going to have a baby.”

Anne’s It’s Showtime co-host and good friend Vice Ganda spoke about how the press might have normalized talking about the topic. “Iyon ang isa sa nakasanayan na we should put a stop [to],” he shared.

In the past, Anne has given similar responses to inquiries about her pregnancy plans. In July 2018, during a press conference for her film Buy Bust, Anne said she wants to take time to relish her new role as wife to Erwan, saying “it was more of I truly believe in enjoying your first year of marriage first. Ganun kami lalo na we still want to travel together, mag-ho-honeymoon pa kami so hindi pa.”

The couple notably delayed their honeymoon, which they had a year after their wedding on November 2018, due to their busy schedules.

At another a press conference in January 2019, Anne said that she doesn’t want to pressure herself to get pregnant. “If it happens, then it happens but I don’t want to tell my body na, ‘O, 2019 na, you have to have a child na,’ because sometimes stress on your body won’t make things happen, ‘di ba?” she explained. “So it’s better to let go and let God take of things na.”

During a guesting stint on the morning show Magandang Buhay to promote the film Just A Stranger, Anne said she wants to do more films first before having a baby. “I wanted to do more films like this before that happens, kasi parang matagal kang magpapahinga muna pag mommy ka.”

Anne has not said she is not planning to have kids; in fact, she has expressed the desire to be a mom.

In one episode of It’s Showtime, she and Vice Ganda interviewed a contestant on the singing competition Tawag ng Tanghalan. The contestant talked about the joy she experiences as a mother, causing Anne to respond, “Alam mo, when I hear stories like this, it makes me even more excited to be a mom.”

Vice Ganda also expressed his excitement to see his friend become a mother. “Anne, seriously, I’m so excited. Gusto ko talaga na makita kung paano ka talaga mag-bu-bloom as a mother.”

Vice continued, “Ang dami mong struggles in the past. Maganda ka dati pero sa mga pinagdaanan mo lalong gumanda ang kaluluwa mo. Your kid, I am very sure, will be very proud of you. And you will be such a perfect mother.”
