A woman was told to leave a public pool in Texas City on June 9 for breastfeeding her child, bodycam footage from Texas City police showed.
Local woman Misty Daugereaux was breastfeeding her 10-month-old baby Maxx at the Nessler Park Family Aquatic Center when according to a personal account from Daugereaux, a lifeguard approached her and said she was not allowed to do so. A police officer was called to the scene.
In a video, the facility manager can be heard saying that it was pool policy to keep covered, and that Daugereaux was “breastfeeding”.

The employee then said that Daugereaux “cussed out” pool staff, which she denied.
“That baby was latching on one breast and she had both of them out,” the female manager told the police officer, in an exchange recorded on his bodyworn camera.
A visibly upset Daugereaux explained to the officer that it is lawful to feed her baby, and that she did not swear at staff. “It’s so embarrassing that I can’t feed my baby,” she said. She was then told to leave the pool with her baby and two children.
