3 Babies Under 1 Year Old Are Among PH's Newest COVID-19 Cases

Yesterday, May 6, 2020, the Department of Health (DOH) announced that the Philippines's confirmed COVID-19 cases has breached the 10,000 mark. Among the newest cases are babies less than a year old.
In Bataan, a 17-day-old baby is among the six new cases in the province, which was announced on May 5. The baby is from Barangay Mt. View in Mariveles, Bataan, Rappler reported.
There are no other details released about the baby at this time.
"Isama po natin ang sanggol, ang kanyang pamilya at ang lahat ng mga nag positibo sa COVID-19 sa ating mga panalangin," read the press release from Mariveles Mayor Jocelyn L. Castaneda.
This is the third infant who tested positive for COVID-19 in the province. Bataan is also home to the youngest COVID-19 patient in Central Luzon, a 14-day-old baby from Orani town, who tested positive on April 17, while 1-month-old baby, also from Mariveles, was confirmed to be infected with COVID-19 on April 5.

The baby girl, from Olongapo City, has been admitted to a private hospital since April 21, 2020. She is in stable condition and awaiting the result of her second COVID-19 RT-PCR test, according to Olongapo City mayor Atty. Rolen Paulino, Jr.

Based on the DOH COVID-19 tracker on May 6, at 4 p.m., there are a total of 467 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in kids aged 19 and younger. Among children aged 0 to 4, there are 119 cases and 78 cases among ages 5 to 9. In tween and teens demographic or kids aged 10 to 19, there are 279 confirmed COVID-19 cases.
