Actress and mom Beauty Gonzalez-Crisologo spent the COVID-19 lockdown in a unique and meaningful way: by undergoing police training for the Special Operations Unit (SOU) of the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) Aviation Security Group.
While celebrities would usually undergo training to prepare for a role in a TV show or movie, Beauty clarified that she did it out of her own free will and because of her desire to help the country in her own way. “Not for a show, not to train for a show, but to serve in any possible way I can, when called upon,” she writes as a caption to an Instagram post, where she is seen holding a gun.
In a recent episode of the ABS-CBN talk show Magandang Buhay, the actress shared that the PNP-Aviation Security Group is training her for anti-hijacking and terrorism. According to the agency’s official website, the SOU is responsible for providing “technical and operational support” in conducting “armed intervention during hijacking incidents; anti-terrorist operations against any unlawful to civil aviation; in-flight security operations and security escorts services on national air carriers; bomb disposal; search and rescue; and crisis response,” among others.
Beauty says the experience was an eye-opener. “Talagang nakaka-inspire kasi this is a career na magbibigay sa iyo ng dignity, camaraderie, and you are serving the Philippines,” the mom shares.
She adds, “Iba ‘yung feeling to serve the Filipinos.”
