Here’s something for Bluey fans: The beloved animated series will release its third album, Bluey: Rug Island, on October 25 via Demon Music Group. What’s more, the debut single, Octopus, featuring the Yol?u surf rock combo *King Stingray, is now available.
Bluey: Rug Island will feature 16 original tracks from the global hit animated series, created by the series’ award-winning composer Joff Bush and the Bluey music team. Recorded in Brisbane, Australia, the album is a playful journey through the imagination of sisters Bluey and Bingo. It includes tracks from all three series and takes inspiration from the episode Rug Island, a place where children play and adults embrace their inner kid.
“The album plays out with these little versions of Rug Island, which are like little journeys into the world of the kids’ imagination, and their games and what they play,” said Joff Bush.
Other highlights on the album include Onesies and a new vocal version of the Bluey Theme Tune (Vocal Version). Standout tracks feature an 80’s-inspired synth rock Fairytale, a traditional-style sea shanty Explorers, a driving rock song Muffin Drive, and a simple sweet track Turtleboy.
Bluey: Rug Island will be available to stream and download worldwide on October 25 and will be released on CD, sunset orange vinyl, and 7,000 copies of a limited-edition vinyl picture disc.
*King Stingray is a five-piece Yol?u surf rock combo that entered the Australian music scene in 2020. They are a tight-knit Yol?u (Aboriginal people of northeast Arnhem Land) and balanda (non-Indigenous) musicians from Northern Territory and Queensland.
