Christmas break for kindergarten to Grade 12 public school students starts on December 15, 2019, Sunday, the Department of Education (DepEd) just announced today, October 14, 2019, to remind the school authorities and students.
The three-week holiday break remains unchanged from the original schedule on the 2019 to 2020 school calendar released by the DepEd earlier in March 2019.
The DepEd Order 007 s. 2019 also indicates that classes will resume on Monday, January 6, 2020.
Though students had several suspension of classes during the rainy season, the scheduled Christmas break will still be followed.
"The calendar also ay localized naman with the adjustments that have to be made in light of suspensions. So far, walang indication that we will deviate from that school calendar," DepEd spokesperson Undersecretary Nepomuceno Malaluan told GMA News Online via a phone interview.
The number of class suspensions varies as it's decided by heads of cities and local municipalities. The interventions to make up for lost school days are also up to local authorities. "It will depend on regions and then divisions and even school level," he added.
Students in private schools, however, may implement a different schedule for their holiday break.
"Private schools have their own school calendar; hence, Christmas break for private school students are set by its school administrators," Deped spokesperson Undersecretary Analyn Sevilla said in a text message to GMA News Online.
