The Department of Education (DepEd) recently released the official calendar for school year 2016 to 2017. Note that some dates may still vary especially if your child will go to a private school. Nevertheless, this calendar of school events can still help you plot your upcoming family vacations--and, yes, we've included the holidays for you!
JUNE
June 12 - (Holiday) Independence Day
June 13 - Start of classes (This can vary in private schools)
June 15 - Language assessment for Primary Grades of previous school year (This is for English, Filipino or Mother Tongue subjects for Grades 1 to 3 students)
June 17 - National Achievement Test (NAT) for last year's Grade 6 students
June 19 - Philippine Educational Placement (PEP) Test
June 23 - National Achievement Test (NAT) for last year's Grade 10 students
JULY
July 29 - (Holiday) Eid al-Fitr
AUGUST
August 18-19 - First Quarter Exams
August 21 - Holiday: Ninoy Aquino Day
August 27 - Distribution of Report Cards/Parent-Teacher Conference
August 29 - (Holiday) National Heroes Day
August 30-31 - National Career Assessment Examination for Grade 9 (This test helps them figure out the "strands" they will take for their senior high school academic track.)
SEPTEMBER
September 11 - (Holiday) Eid al-Adha
