When celebrities Derek Ramsay and Ellen Adarna got together, they may have seemed like an unlikely pair to the public, but over the years, they've shown how perfect they are for each other. In case you didn't know, they married after three months of dating (yes, three!).
In an interview on Karen Davila's YouTube channel, released just in time for Valentine's Day, Derek shared how their whirlwind romance led to marriage, and the couple talk about their pregnancy journey.

The actor recalled, "We never met in the industry; we were offered projects, but I guess I was one of those nag-assume na, 'Ayaw ko. Magulo 'yan si Ellen'. And I'm sure she was [also] like, 'Ayaw ko kay Derek. Babaero 'yan'. Then I got introduced to her, and [at first, I said,] 'I don't want to meet her. I'm done with showbiz relationships'. But the next thing we knew, we were engaged."
Ellen added, "We met in January, got together in February, and were engaged by March. Ganoon kabilis."
"A week after, I told her, 'I'm going to marry you.' Wala akong mahanap na doubt. In all my past relationships, there was doubt, even if it's like ganito [this small]. It was enough for me not to pull the trigger," Derek said.
He shared how his mother questioned the speed of their engagement. "When my mom [asked] me, 'Derek, we love Ellen, but why so fast?' Sabi ko, 'Mom, in my 40-something years, kailan ako lumapit sa 'yo to ask you and tell you that I want to marry this woman?'"
Derek is head over heels for Ellen, and he also lists why he instantly knew she would be his wife: "There was no doubt. She's a great mom, check. She's beautiful, check. She's loving, check. I know she's not after my money, check. She makes me laugh, check."
"And the most important thing is that I had no doubt. I had no doubt she wouldn't cheat on me. I had no doubt she loves me." Derek also added that he loved and accepted Ellen's "wild side."

Derek and Ellen's Pregnancy Journey
Derek and Ellen welcomed their first child together, Lilian, in 2024. The public was surprised since the couple never formally announced the pregnancy, though they never tried to hide it.
In the same interview, they shared that they learned about the pregnancy in Antarctica. Ellen, who knows her body well, suspected it when her period was a week late.

After experiencing a miscarriage before, Ellen was more cautious this time. On the other hand, Derek admitted to panicking when he found out. He explained, "I find out while we were on a trip again; nababaliw na ako kasi walang ospital dito."
When asked about how she was like during her pregnancy, "I thought I was normal," Ellen said, laughing. "Like, I'm okay. Kayong lahat 'yung may problema."
But Derek disagreed. "The complete opposite of what she said." [She was] crazy. Every time I leave the house, I give her a kiss and tell her where I'm going. That's our rule. Same thing when we wake up," Derek said.
He added, "I'm halfway to my golf game. [She said,] 'Why was your kiss like that?' I'm like, what do you mean? 'That's not how you kiss me.' Parang kailangan daw six seconds yata ang kiss or something." He joked, "Gusto mo next time may tongue na, e."
With their daughter now in their life, Derek and Ellen reflect on what has changed. He says his wife's attention is all on their baby, prompting him to say, "We can't forget about us. That should actually be the priority. If you want to be good parents, you should prioritize the marriage. One day, your kids are going to leave you, and we should teach them to do the same. Whoever they get involved with, they should prioritize their relationship because it keeps the environment they grow up in stable."
Ellen's Postpartum Experience with Elias
When Ellen had her firstborn Elias, she went through a lot. She told Derek she was a different person when they met. "I got pregnant [with Elias]. Two weeks before I gave birth, my dad died nang biglaan. Then postpartum and a toxic relationship. Nagsabay-sabay siya. I was really in a dark place for almost two years."
She told Derek that her biggest shift was to be a better mom for Elias. The actress shared that joining the Kami No Ken program helped her heal. The couple went through a combination of mental and physical exercises, with meditation against the backdrop of Batangas'majestic mountains for self-discovery and transformation.
Derek admitted they might not have married if she hadn't joined the program, as they would have clashed too much, and Ellen agreed.
