Ex-husband alleges Isabel Granada had an unchecked illness before incident
According to ex-husband Jericho Aguas, Isabel has long been hiding an illness. "Medyo matagal na pong naramdaman ni Isabel ‘yan, lalo na yung pananakit ng ulo. Magkasama pa po kami ay lagi na po niyang sinasabi 'yan. Unfortunately po, hindi siya nakapagpatingin at hindi siya nakapagpa-checkup," he told Pep.ph. Jericho added that the 41-year-old singer-actress had other symptoms that would have needed medical attention. "Unfortunately, nung dumating ang mga panahon na ‘yan, hindi na kami ang pamilya niya, ang kasama," he said. Jericho claimed that a doctor friend informed him that Isabel had a checkup but didn't tell her family about it because she didn't want them to worry. He and Isabel were married in 2002 and separated after more than 10 years of marriage; they have a 14-year-old son, Hubert.
"Isabel's heartbeat went down from 156 to 98, when Mama and Hubert arrived and spent time in her room. That's a good sign. The normal heartbeat daw is 60 to 100. God performs miracles," Jericho posted an update on his Facebook account on Saturday, October 28. "Continue praying… Malapit na hong magkamalay si Isabel," he added. Jericho also prayed that God would give their son strength while accompanying his grandmother in Doha. Isabel's mom is also a hopeful that her daughter will wake up from her coma.
As of October 29, Isabel's husband, Arnel Principe-Cowley confirmed that her condition is still the same, and that her vital signs remain stable. (pep.ph)

DepEd leaves decision on schedule of make-up classes to school officials A lot of parents are already voicing concern that the number of holidays this school year would hinder kids' learning and development, but the Department of Education (DepEd) said that the school calendar usually already factors in possible school cancellations due to typhoons, transpost strikes, of ASEAN events. It also stressed that holding makeup classes for elementary and high school students is up to the school's prerogative. Makeup classes may be set on Saturdays or by extending school hours on weekdays. Teachers may also opt to give students extra homework and projects. "The school calendar contains more or less 204 school calendar days, and to deliver all the modules effectively, we only require 180 days of actual contact time among the teachers and our students. If you go below that, then we conduct make-up classes for our students by way of Saturday classes or extended school hours on weekdays if applicable," DepEd Undersecretary Tonisito Umali told The Manila Times.
