Limited Face-To-Face Classes In 20 Private Schools Start Today, November 22

Last November 3, 2021, the Department of Education (DepEd) identified 100 public schools in the Philippines to participate in the pilot run of face-to-face classes that started last Monday, November 15. (See photos of what the first day of back-to-school looked like here)

Since the list of private schools were yet to be identified, DepEd and the Department of Health (DOH) had to carefully assess 57 of the private schools nominated for evaluation.

With the final assessment conducted last November 15, DepEd officially released the list of private schools in areas deemed "low-risk" for COVID-19 and who will participate in the pilot implementation of face-to-face classes that starts today, November 22. 

According to a report by ABS-CBN News, only 18 private schools welcomed students as "two schools deferred from holding in-person classes due to their academic calendars."

List of private schools for limited face-to-face classes

Students from Kindergarten to Grade 3, as well as senior high school students who were able to get written consent from their parents were allowed back into the classroom. These schools went through the School Safety Assessment and Validation and secured permission from the local government.

Below is the original list of private schools qualified for the pilot run.

Region I - Ilocos

• Our Saviour’s Foundation (Laoag City)

Region III - Central Luzon

• Mother of Good Counsel Seminary (San Fernando City)
• Academica de Meridien (Zambales)
• Singapore School Clark (Angeles City)

Region VI - Western Visayas

• St. Anthony’s College (Antique)
• Oxmont Memorial Academy (Iloilo)
• Gamot Cogon Waldorf School Inc. (Iloilo)

Region VII -Central Visayas

• Sisters of Mary Schools Inc. - Boystown (Cebu Province)

Region VIII - Eastern Visayas

• Notre Dame of Abuyog, SHS & TVL (Leyte)
• Mt. Moriah Christian Academy (Ormoc City)

Region IX - Zamboanga Peninsula

• Metro Dipolog Baptist Academy (Dipolog)

Region X - Northern Mindanao

• Deor and Dune Academe of Technology, SHS & TVL (Oroquieta City)
• St. Paul’s Institute of Technology, SHS & TVL (Iligan City)
• Xavier University Senior High School, SHS & TVL (Cagayan de Oro City)

Region XI - Davao

• Ato Padada Christian School (Davao del Sur)

Region XII - SOCCSKSARGEN

• BEST College of Polomolok, SHS & TVL (South Cotabato)
• Banga Evangelical Church Elementary School, Inc. (South Cotabato)
• Midsayap Montessori Centre (Cotabato Province)

Region XIII - CARAGA

• New Moriah Adeventist Elementary School (Bayugan City)

According to a post uploaded on DepEd's official Facebook page, private schools who are participating in the pilot run followed similar precautionary measures as public schools. (Read the guidelines here.)

DepEd is positive that more schools in different areas will want to join the pilot run in the next few weeks. If all goes well, face-to-face classes may be expanded to other areas starting March 7 next year.

DepEd reiterates that the implementation of limited face-to-face classes will not omit the learning modalities and that distance learning will still remain.
