  • Firefly lights-up 75-ft Christmas Tree at SM Mall of Asia

New holiday attraction sparkles with eco-friendly lights that inspires Pinoys to celebrate a “green” Christmas this year.
  • Firefly Christmas treeFirefly Electric & Lighting Corp. (FELCO) lights up its 75-foot Christmas tree with more than 600 pieces of Firefly Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs) and 47, 000 pieces of Firefly Light Emitting Diode (LED) bulbs, treating Filipinos to a bright, lively, colorful yet environment-friendly Yuletide experience at San Miguel by the Bay, SM Mall of Asia.

The new holiday attraction dubbed as the giant “Firefly Christmas Tree” showcases a dazzling display of eco-friendly lights that consumes energy equivalent to only eight flat irons. Mall goers and shoppers joined the lighting of the giant Christmas tree and welcomed Christmas with a one-of-a-kind street party filled with magical lights, fireworks, free carnival festivities and the amazing “dance of lights,” the first-ever in the country, featuring the Firefly dancers.

“We Filipinos love Christmas. It is the time of the year when families get together and Filipino overseas workers go home to be with loved ones. FELCO is once again lighting up our eco-friendly Firefly Christmas Tree to provide a venue where Filipino families can bond and enjoy “family time” while enjoying vibrant and sparkling Christmas lights,” said Jhie Greenwood, FELCO Marketing Manager.

According to Greenwood, the Firefly Christmas Tree aims to remind Filipinos that a festive Christmas celebration doesn’t need to hurt the budget and the environment. “We realize that more Filipinos are looking at cost-cutting measures to cope with the changing times and through our Firefly CFLs, we are making the lighting experience both environment-friendly and economical,” Greenwood added.
