How to Help the Victims of Typhoon Sendong

The beautiful provinces of Cagayan de Oro and Iligan City in Mindanao have turned into mass graves for hundreds of flashflood victims last week, many of them women and children (this particular photo by Twitter user Mindanaoan struck a chord among many social network users). The number of casualties of the flashfloods brought about by tropical storm Sendong has risen to 600+, while hundreds more remain missing.

According to reports from ABS-CBN, funeral parlors in Cagayan de Oro are quickly running out of coffins for children because of the sheer number of casualties. The living, on the other hand - about four thousand families in total who are now relocated in evacuation centers - are in dire need of clean water and other basic necessities.
